Kampung Bukit Cherakah 🏡🏘🏡

Barongan Kuda Kepang performance

Kuda Kepang aka Flat Horse 🐮 is a traditional Javanese dance with a group of horsemen (as dancers) straddle a flat horse 🐮 Each Flat Horse was made with the braided strips of woven bamboo, then being painted & decorated colourfully

This dance portrays troops riding horses & incorporates trances. When dancers are in trance, they display extraordinary abilities as being possessed by animal spirits eg. monkey, snake, elephant, bird etc. Some of the horsemen will swallow glasses, climb trees, walk on hot burning charcoals etc.

Traditionally, this dance supposed to be with all male dancers. However, she has noted that there are some female dancers from the Persatuan Kuda Kepang Kampung Bukit Cherakah that night

Some of her travelmates have joined the dancers to enjoy the dance together, 1 of her travelmate was being chased by the Barongan, lol…Ha…Ha…

Al-Hidayah Old Mosque 🕌 , Ampang Pecah

1ïžâƒŁ of the oldest mosque 🕌 in Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ

Guess what❓⁉

When the Sungai Selangor dam was malfunctional for the 1ïžâƒŁst time in 1883, then caused a massive huge flood to KKB. The it was broken in 1926 for 2ïžâƒŁnd time, it wiped out the whole KKB town except ❌ for this mosque 🕌 & the Guan Yin Gu Si Temple ⛩ Wow‌đŸ˜Č

This place was named as “broken dam” aka Ampang Pecah in the Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ ‘s national language due to the massive flood which broke the dams in the history

It was once said by the residents đŸ‘«đŸ‘đŸ‘Ź that it’s constructed by magic supretitious power in 1924 & inspired by Javanese architecture with its arabesque decorations

Wall  Mural 🎹🖌  Streets

The beautiful wall murals 🎹🖌 here actually potray the history & memories of KKB, its economic activities in the past ie. tin mining ⛏ , rubber tapping as well as the white crocodile âšȘïžđŸŠ (As a river guardian) fairy tale

These beautiful đŸ˜đŸ€© wall murals 🎹🖌 also share the famous activities within KKB nature 💚🌳🌳💚 attractions eg. waterfall hiking đŸ„Ÿ , white water rafting, hot spring ♚ etc.

A perfect place to capture some stylish beautiful OOTDs ya

Beats of Selangor 😃 ~ Malay

During her recent glamping 🏕 stay @ Dusun Bonda, Batang Kali of Selangor state, West Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ , she đŸ‘©đŸ» has a chance to learn more details about the Malay traditional music & beats as below,

Malaysian Caklempong

It’s a traditional music đŸŽ”đŸŽ¶ of the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra, Indonesia đŸ‡źđŸ‡© however was brought to Negeri Sembilan, West Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ in the 14th century by the Minangkabau people

.

A small-size gong made of bronze that produces melodious sounds & often used to play a wide variety of both traditional & modern music đŸŽ” đŸŽ¶ Other instruments e.g. bamboo flute, “Saluang, Malay tambourine & gong are played together with Caklempong for various dance/ performance e.g. Pencak Silat, Candle Dance, Wayang Kulit etc.

Keroncong band performance

It’s actually the name of a ukulele-like instrument & an Indonesian musical style which typically makes use of the keroncong (i.e. The sound chrong-chrong-chrong comes from this instrument). So, the band consists of a flute, a violin đŸŽ» , a melody guitar 🎾 , a cello, string bass in pizzicato style & with either a female / a male singer đŸ‘©đŸœâ€đŸŽ€đŸ‘šđŸœâ€đŸŽ€

.

She đŸ‘©đŸ» has learnt that 1ïžâƒŁ ukulele named “cak”, a steel-stringed. The instrumentalist strums chords with up to 8ïžâƒŁ strums per beat in 4/4 rhythm. The off-beat strums are often accentuated. The other ukulele named “cuk” is slightly larger & has nylon strings. As a set, both the “cak” & “cuk” form an interlocking pair that mostly gives Kroncong its characteristic kron & chong 😊

.

Tor Tor Dance & Gordang Sembilan

Tor Tor dance & 9ïžâƒŁ great drumbeats/ percussion (Gordang Sembilan in Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ ‘s national language) are the cultural heritage of Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ ‘s Mandailing community, which originally came from Mandailing, North Sumatera of Indonesia đŸ‡źđŸ‡©

.

It’s a slow motion dance with the movement of the feet / toe to toe 👣 & hand đŸ€šđŸ» movements with a music đŸŽ”đŸŽ¶ rhythm played with the traditional music instruments e.g. Gondang, Flute, Trumpet đŸŽș etc. At present, Tor tor dance is to celebrating harvesting, welcoming guests, wedding đŸ€”đŸŸđŸ‘°đŸœ ceremonies. No ❌ longer associated with the religious / mystical ceremonies in the past years

Kuda Kepang

It was 1ïžâƒŁst introduced in the early 20th century when Javanese immigrants đŸ‡źđŸ‡©đŸ‘đŸ‘ŹđŸ‘«, who brought this unique dance & 1ïžâƒŁst arrived in the southern tip of West Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ It’s usually performed by 9 to 15 pax, usually all men dancers traditional Javanese clothes

In the past years, Kuda Kepang is believed to have a strong linkage to the spirit world, however at present it becomes a regular dance performance for the birthday 🎂 of the Sultan of Johor, state government celebrations & cultural shows in Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ

.

It’s a traditional Javanese braided hobbyhorse dance & in the dance performance, all the dancers will ride the 2ïžâƒŁD mock horse which is traditionally made of bamboo 🎍🎋, then painted & decorated with colorful paints and cloth to resemble a horse 🐎 🐮 Some of the dance movements in the Kuda Kepang rituals are based on traditional Malay silat

.

Beats of Selangor 😃 ~ Temuan Indigenous Tribe

The Sewang Bahbola Dance by the Temuan Tribe @📍Orang Asli Museum, KM 24, Jalan Pahang Lama Gombak, 53100 Gombak, Selangor, West Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ

.

It’s a traditional dance performed by the Orang Asli of Malaysia đŸ‡ČđŸ‡Ÿ for ceremonies of funeral, thanksgiving, to treating well the sick / wounded person. However, it has now evolving to also entertaining the foreign tourists đŸ‘đŸ‘ŹđŸ‘« A dance in & within a circle ⭕ with music đŸŽ”đŸŽ¶ instruments which made from bamboo plants 🎍🎋
