๐Ÿ’ฏyears old Muslim friendly โ˜ช๏ธ Hainanese chicken chop shop in Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB), yes, it operates since 1920 till now with 2nd generation of the family ~ Mr Tan is very friendly welcoming & sharing his open kitchen

His volunteering efforts to help the old folk communities is being recognised, lots of appreciation certificates on the wall. Bravo!!

He looks young at his age of almost 70, seeking his wellness secret he has shared with SiennyLovesDrawing that daily exercise routines, healthy eating habits ~ less sugar & salt, talking to people & living happily

This shop already serving foods to the many generations of the locals ๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ฌ in Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB) with its Hainanese breakfast/ dishes eg. crispy kaya puff, soft-boiled eggs ๐Ÿฅš, charcoal toast bread, Hainanese chicken rice ๐Ÿ›, Hailam noodles, pies ๐Ÿฅง etc.

She really enjoyed the thick Neslo served & her favourite sliced butter toast set

She ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป really enjoyed her shared portion of its best seller ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป with her travelmate ~ Hainanese Chicken Chop, a large & thick piece of deep fried chicken chop ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ—, fried egg ๐Ÿณ, potato wedges, tomatoes ๐Ÿ… , peas, carrots ๐Ÿฅ•, onions & topping with its homemade tasty delicious thick brown gravy. It’s so juicy tasty to enjoy every bites of it

This new stall just started recently for 3 months according to the founder, nicknamed as Makcik Petir (aka Ms Lightning because she speaks loudly & worry will annoy her customers)

Makcik Petir has shared that she is with family food businesses background in Kedah, since marriage, then followed her hubby to KKB almost 7 years due to his policemen relocation posting

The famous dish is Nasi Pandan with crispy chicken ๐Ÿ— & normally sold off @ 10am from the shop open @ 8am. So fast!!

From her dining experience here, she really loves & enjoyed the tasty Bakso (aka Indonesian meatball) & the fruit salad (aka Rojak Buah in Malaysia’s national language)

Also she has enjoyed the 1st time a hot bowl of Bihun Sup Kedah from here, the yellow Vermicelli is because of the dip with the tumeric

Kluban/ urap meant salad aka kerabu ulam in Malaysia’s national language, the main & basic ingredients of Nasi Kluban. Generally consists of long beans, bean sprouts, spinach, winged, king’s salad & coconut floss (Aka serunding kelapa in Malaysia’s national language). Kampung Bukit Cherakah ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿก

Barongan Kuda Kepang performance

Kuda Kepang aka Flat Horse ๐Ÿด is a traditional Javanese dance with a group of horsemen (as dancers) straddle a flat horse ๐Ÿด Each Flat Horse was made with the braided strips of woven bamboo, then being painted & decorated colourfully

This dance portrays troops riding horses & incorporates trances. When dancers are in trance, they display extraordinary abilities as being possessed by animal spirits eg. monkey, snake, elephant, bird etc. Some of the horsemen will swallow glasses, climb trees, walk on hot burning charcoals etc.

Traditionally, this dance supposed to be with all male dancers. However, she has noted that there are some female dancers from the Persatuan Kuda Kepang Kampung Bukit Cherakah that night

Some of her travelmates have joined the dancers to enjoy the dance together, 1 of her travelmate was being chased by the Barongan, lol…Ha…Ha…

This administrative complex ๐Ÿข rehoused the District House & the Magistrate Court. The British took a lesson from the floods tragedy by building administrative complex ๐Ÿข on top of hill โ›ฐ for safety purposes. It’s registered as PWD No. 112 under the historic building category

This 70++ years old fire station ๐Ÿš’ may look stable on the outside, however no โŒ longer safe to serve its original purpose after the repair maintenance from the massive flood in 1926

It’s actually the name of a ukulele-like instrument & an Indonesian musical style which typically makes use of the keroncong (i.e. The sound chrong-chrong-chrong comes from this instrument). So, the band consists of a flute, a violin ๐ŸŽป , a melody guitar ๐ŸŽธ , a cello, string bass in pizzicato style & with either a female / a male singer ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŽค

She ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป has learnt that 1๏ธโƒฃ ukulele named “cak”, a steel-stringed. The instrumentalist strums chords with up to 8๏ธโƒฃ strums per beat in 4/4 rhythm. The off-beat strums are often accentuated. The other ukulele named “cuk” is slightly larger & has nylon strings. As a set, both the “cak” & “cuk” form an interlocking pair that mostly gives Kroncong its characteristic kron & chong ๐Ÿ˜Š
