She has read ๐ about the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has recently announced about the launch of a ๐ online resource for increasing โฌ๏ธ the sustainability of the tourism sector. This course named “Targeting Zero 0๏ธโฃ Plastics in Tourism Businesses โ with UNESCO, PATA & Expedia Group” is recently launched in conjunction with PATA Destination Marketing Forum 2022 (PDMF) which held in Songkhla, Thailand ๐น๐ญ from 2 to 4 Aug recently. SiennyLovesDrawing ๐ฉ๐ป has registered it, however due to work commitment, she was unable to attend it personally ๐
In March 2022, PATA actually already started a collaboration ๐ค๐ป with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) with the goal of advising tourism & hospitality businesses on plastic waste reductionโฌ๏ธ To achieve this, PATA has developed this online course ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ป๐จ๐ปโ๐ป๐ง๐ปโ๐ป to provide step-wise guidance on minimising the sourcing & consumption of single-use plastics as well as the importance for organisations to sign โ๐ป the UNESCO Sustainable Travel Pledge
The Pledge, which is a collaboration ๐ค๐ป between UNESCO & Expedia Group, is open & applicable to all tourism businesses, regardless of their size or location. By signing โ๐ป the Pledge, they will be joining a network ๐ of leading tourism & hospitality businesses that are helping their destinations in the development of sustainable tourism. “The Sustainable Travel Pledge is particularly timely as we work to build a ๐ kind of tourism in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, by inviting local tourism stakeholders to commit to inclusive & sustainable measures”, said Ernesto Ottone R., UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture ๐จ๐ผโ๐ผ
“The pandemic caused hardship in tourism destinations worldwide ๐, but also led to severe setbacks in our fight against plastic waste”, said PATA CEO Liz Ortiguera. “Now is the time to take action & strive for a more sustainable tourism & hospitality industry. Weโre proud to make this contribution to plastic waste reduction โฌ๏ธ efforts.”
The amount of plastics we currently produce, consume and dispose of is unsustainable, and tourism activities and hospitality businesses do contribute largely to this issue. In the Mediterranean, for example, marine litter increases up to 40% during tourist peak season (One Planet, 2021) & this poses a threat to tourism destinations themselves
As put by Ang Choo Pin, Managing Director Asia, Expedia Group, “It is essential for hotels, restaurants, tour operators & all other tourism businesses to reduce โฌ๏ธ the amount of plastics they generate & dispose of the unavoidable plastics responsibly if they wish to protect the very assets they rely on to attract customers”

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) welcomes the recent announcement made by the YAB Prime Minister regarding the opening of the country’s borders starting 1 Apr 2022, in line with the country’s situation which will enter the ‘Transition to Endemic’ Phase on the same date
This announcement is good news for tourism industry players as it can give them relief and light in regenerating the economy through the international tourism sector after the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic 2 years ago, closing the country’s border gates to foreign tourists
The announcement made involves the following:
Malaysians with valid travel documents can now enter and leave the country as usual and are allowed to go to any country that also opens its border gates to foreign travelers
Foreign nationals with valid travel documents can also move in and out of Malaysia without having to apply for MyTravelPass which will be abolished. Instead, just download and activate the MySejahtera application and complete the Pre-Departure Form through the Traveler function in MySejahtera
Individuals who have received a complete vaccination, are not required to undergo any quarantine period and only need to undergo the COVID-19 RT-PCR detection test two days before departure as well as the RTK-Ag (professional) test within 24 hours of arrival. However, for other vaccination status such as not receiving vaccine for medical reasons and not receiving any vaccination, the procedure will be detailed by the Minister of Health; as well as
For countries that are still closing their borders, the people can still take advantage of the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) method that has been agreed by the Malaysian Government with the countries involved
YB Dato ‘Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture said, the decision to open the countryโs borders to foreign tourists is able to boost the countryโs economic recovery after COVID-19, especially involving the entire chain of tourism, arts and culture industry players in the country. . MOTAC remains optimistic that the industry will rise again and be able to make Malaysia popular again among international tourists
It is advisable for all tourism and cultural industry players to make initial preparations in receiving tourists from outside. Industry players are urged to continue to intensify promotion and be more creative in marketing Malaysian tourism products and locations in the eyes of the world

It’s 1๏ธโฃ of the oldest Thai temple โฉ which originally built in the 16th century during the Mangrai Dynasty i.e. the 11th King ๐คด๐ปof Lanna Kingdom, Phra Muang Kaew who ruled the Thai Kingdom between 1495 to 1525 ๐

About 30millions THB of construction costs ๐ฐspent & has been rebuilt & renovated over the different historical periods by the silver craftsman in the surrounding Wua Lai community ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ with impressive ๐๐คฉknowledge of fine metalwork over many generations

According to the Lanna Belief, ladies ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญare not โ allowed to enter the Ubosotha/ the main shrine. Beneath the base of Ubosotha in the monastic boundary, many precious things, incantations, amuiets & other holy objects were buried 500 years ago. Entering this area may deteriorated the place/ otherwise the lady ๐ญ herself ๐ค

This dinosaur valley ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ย (next to Cactus Garden 1 & 2) has opened its door since Aug 2017 & it built with a childhood dream ๐ญ from the founder to displaying an actual size of every dinosaur built ๐ฆ๐ฆ

Khun Pat ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ was born in Bangkok & then having a career with marketing for almost 8๏ธโฃyears.ย She ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ then has decided to move back to her hometown, Chiang Mai to spend time with her parents ๐ง๐ป๐ด๐ป
There is a garden ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ to growing vegetables ๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฅ & fruits. ๐๐๐ฅ for the family’s own consumption ๐๐คค & will sell the extras๐ฐ
