Do you know KKB with its nickname as “Kiri Kanan Bukit” (also KKB) in Malaysia 🇲🇾’s national language which means “Left Right Hill ⛰” ~ In a way, a sleepy town surrounding with hills ⛰⛰

1️⃣ of the hill ~ Bukit Batu Pahat is now famous for extreme sport ~ paragliding, aka KKB Paragliging Park currently. Not to miss the beautiful 😍🤩 scenery & view from this hill top ya 🏞

Why❓⁉️

KKB was designed by Malaya’s 1️⃣st town planner Charles Reade based on the influential ‘garden city movement’ of urban planning which 1️⃣st initiated by Sir Ebenezer Howard back in 1898

Hence, now working towards to have it being listed on the National Heritage Act 2005 & then the UNESCO world heritage site by the Selangor State Government, do read more via 🌐  https://www.mdhs.gov.my/en/mdhs/media-centre/news/kuala-kubu-bharu-town-listed-unesco-world-heritage-site & 🌐 https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/selangor-eyes-2-unesco-heritage-listings

Malaysia 🇲🇾 currently has 4️⃣ UNESCO sites, hope KKB can be added soon too

Definitely worth a read 📖 to learn more about KKB & its history via 🌐  https://www.nst.com.my/lifestyle/jom/2020/08/613506/jom-go-beyond-kkb-town-limit & 🌐  https://wikitravel.org/en/Kuala_Kubu_Bharu & 🌐 https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Kuala_Kubu_Bharu

Where❓⁉️

Currently, there are 6️⃣ heritage spots 📍📍 from this Jejak Warisan Heritage Trail & more will be added soon to this trail eg. an old cinema (1953), St. Paul church, wall murals 🎨🖌 lane etc.

1️⃣. Hulu Selangor District/ Land Office Building 🏢

KKB remains as the main administrative town of Hulu Selangor district. Yes , 1️⃣ of its heritage still operating as the current Hulu Selangor District Land Office 🏢

This administrative complex 🏢 rehoused the District House & the Magistrate Court. The British took a lesson from the floods tragedy by building administrative complex 🏢 on top of hill for safety purposes. The construction of the complex 🏢 was completed in 3 Nov 1930 with a cost of $172, 675.70

2️⃣. King George VI Commemorate Clock 🕰 Tower

This clock 🕰 tower is a major landmark of KKB town. It’s located at the top of Bukit Kerajaan ⛰ & opposite the Hulu Selangor District/ Land Office 🏢

It was built in 1937 to commemorate King George VI & Queen Elizabeth crowned King & Queen of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

3️⃣. Hulu Selangor Traffic🚦Police HQ 🚨👮🏻‍♂️👮🏻‍♀️

It’s located at the top of Bukit Kerajaan ⛰ & was 1️⃣st built in the 1914 as a church ⛪ named The Church of Ascension to serve the Angelic devotees. It has the physical aspects of a typical Victorian building eg. the cupola at the top of roof

It had been adaptive reused when C.C Reade (1880 – 1933) proposal of the new 🆕 township that involving this hilly site ⛰ as an administration centre in year 1926 🏢

Hmm…SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 has actually missed 🤦🏻‍♀️ this spot from her trail exploring. A special thanks to her travelmate, IG @livelifelah 🙋🏻‍♀️ she has got the pictures 📸📸 of Spot 3️⃣ to share here

4️⃣. KKB Post Office 🏤

It was built around the 1930s along with the development of KKB. It was designed with the Neo-Classical Architecture style, mainly characterised by round gable windows & round tribe casement windows

5️⃣. No.1 & 2 Jalan Dato Tabal Shophouses

Shophouse No.1️⃣ (PWD 211) & No. 2️⃣ (PWD 212) are shophouses in the historic building category. These shophouses were dispossessed by security forces during Malayan Emergency. However, there are 2️⃣ versions of the story,

Version 1️⃣ ~ This building is used by Communists to attack the Police 🚨👮🏻‍♀️👮🏻‍♂️Station @ Bukit Kerajaan

Version 2️⃣ ~ This building has been used by the Communists forces for their meetings

In the past, this Dato Tabal street was called as Bowen street. Bowen actually meant for a long serving District Officer of Hulu Selangor in the past as mentioned in a letter written by the District Officer of Hulu Selangor to its residents about the naming of streets in KKB. All being recorded in the book 📖 named “Tarikh Kuala Kubu 1780 – 1931” published by the Kuala Kubu History Society. Credited & do read more via 🌐  https://museumvolunteersjmm.com/2019/10/20/visit-to-kuala-kubu-bharu-kkb/

This street now being modernised with wall murals 🎨🖌, especially the entrance of a hair salon 💇🏻‍♂️💇🏻‍♀️

It’s registered as PWD No. 112 under the historic building category

This 70++ years old fire station 🚒 may look stable on the outside, however no ❌ longer safe to serve its original purpose after the repair maintenance from the massive flood in 1926

Instead, it’s now the KKB Tourism Info Center ℹ️

Not just the heritage trail, worth to explore below too

Al-Hidayah Old Mosque 🕌 , Ampang Pecah

1️⃣ of the oldest mosque 🕌 in Malaysia 🇲🇾

Guess what❓⁉️

When the Sungai Selangor dam was malfunctional for the 1️⃣st time in 1883, then caused a massive huge flood to KKB. The it was broken in 1926 for 2️⃣nd time, it wiped out the whole KKB town except for this mosque 🕌 & the Guan Yin Gu Si Temple ⛩ Wow‼️😲

This place was named as “broken dam” aka Ampang Pecah in the Malaysia 🇲🇾 ‘s national language due to the massive flood which broke the dams in the history

It was once said by the residents 👫👭👬 that it’s constructed by magic supretitious power in 1924 & inspired by Javanese architecture with its arabesque decorations

Wall  Mural 🎨🖌  Streets

The beautiful wall murals 🎨🖌 here actually potray the history & memories of KKB, its economic activities in the past ie. tin mining ⛏ , rubber tapping as well as the white crocodile ⚪️🐊 (As a river guardian) fairy tale

These beautiful 😍🤩 wall murals 🎨🖌 also share the famous activities within KKB nature 💚🌳🌳💚 attractions eg. waterfall hiking 🥾 , white water rafting, hot spring ♨️ etc.

A perfect place to capture some stylish beautiful OOTDs ya

Saloma Link Bridge ~ Insta-Worthy Tourist Spot @ Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

This actually relating to SiennyLovesDrawing’s 👩🏻 earlier blogging 👩🏻‍💻📝 via 🌐 https://siennylovesdrawing.wordpress.com/2020/05/19/things-cant-wait-to-do-after-the-end-of-covid19-lockdown/

Yes ✅, she wishes to enjoy holidays within her own living city 🌆🏙/ home country 🚗🚌🇲🇾

Yeah‼️ Have you heard about an instagrammable attraction 📍 in Kuala Lumpur (KL), the capital city 🌆🏙 of Malaysia 🇲🇾❓⁉️

She 👩🏻 has 1️⃣st visited it from her earlier participation as media team for Kuala Lumpur 🌆🏙 What’s Fun trip❓⁉️😃😉

It was before Malaysia 🇲🇾 ‘s Movement Control Order (MCO) even started though…

She 👩🏻 is gonna sharing 👩🏻‍💻📝aboutthis instagrammable bridge 🌉named Pintasan Saloma in Malaysia 🇲🇾 ‘s national language aka Saloma Link Bridge 🌉

Guess what❓⁉️

It’s now the longest single span steel structure elevated walkway 🌉 in Malaysia 🇲🇾 The orientation of its floor finishes along the walkway is facing the Qibla (Read more via 🌐 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qibla) to create continuity ↔️ between the Pintasan Saloma & Jalan Ampang Muslim Cemetery Park

Surely all of you have viewed lots of beautiful 😍🤩captures 📸📹🎥 & news sharing about it whether from the main media 🗞📰 or online social platforms 📱🖥👩🏻‍💻👨🏻‍💻

Yes ✅, this Saloma Link with its main structure i.e. A covered elevated steel pedestrian bridge 🌉 already launched for public visit since 5 Feb 2020 in the city 🌆🏙 which commissioned by Kampong Bharu Development Corporation (PKB) 😀

It stretches 370m & span across the AKLEH Highway 🛣 & Klang River of 69m long. Its curved steel roof canopy houses the with 4.1K diamond facade panels & equipped with LED lights💡💡which brightly-lit up at night 🌃🌌 The state-of-the-art lighting actually changing the light colours from time to time to creating amazing images for public to enjoy their walking 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️ & capturing unique moments with it 📸📹🎥

Yes ✅, another iconic landmark 📍 in  of Malaysia 🇲🇾 This beautiful 😍🤩 pedestrian bridge 🌉 connects ↔️ between Kampong Baru & Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) just 7️⃣mins walking 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️distance as compared to 30mins in the past, from Jalan Sungai Baru to Jalan Saloma (reason of its name) & expanding over Klang River

A seamless pedestrian connectivity ↔️ between both the old & new 🆕 worlds of KL 🌆🏙, a mere distance from the Kampung Baru LRT 🚉 The construction of this bridge took 1.5 years to complete with cost 💰 of RM31mil (approximately USD7.5mil), including its consultancy cost

The bridge’s architecture is inspired by the Sirih Junjung in Malaysia  🇲🇾‘s national language aka Betel Leaf concept, a must in traditional Malay wedding ceremonies 🎉🎊 as a symbol of unity among the Malay community. Also its design slightly similar to Bridge of Peace, a bow-shaped pedestrian bridge 🌉 with steel & glass construction over the Kura River at in downtown Tbilisi, capital of Georgia 🇬🇪, read more via 🌐 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridge_of_Peace

Personally SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 recommends to visit this bridge 🌉 for both day time 🌆 & night time 🏙 for a different photo/ video 📸📹🎥 capturing fun & effects pleasure. Hmm…Please note that this link bridge 🌉 is not open for 24 hours. Operation hours 🕔 as shared at the bottom of this post 📌

Free admission ya 🆓🎟

Don’t worry about your personal safety while visiting it 🌉 at late hours as it’s well equipped with CCTV 📺 & rotation of security guard 👮🏻‍♂️👮🏻‍♀️

She 👩🏻would like to reminding public, both Malaysians & foreign visitors 👫👭👬 to maintaining the cleanliness 🚮of this bridge, perhaps by not ❌ having any snacks/ beverages 🍟🌯🍿🥤 while visiting this link bridge

Let’s all of us be a responsible traveller whenever & wherever we are 😊

Ohh ya…Not just that, this bridge also aims for healthy lifestyle in the city 🌆🏙, it’s promoting walkability within the city 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️

A 5️⃣ km fun walk 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️ ~ Jejak Warisan @ Pintasan Saloma 2020  was organised on 29 Feb 2020 to celebrate 🎉🎊 the Happy Federal Territory Day in conjunction of the opening ceremony of this Saloma Link Bridge 🌉

Then she 👩🏻 got contacted with PKB FB page & received invitation as media 😃😁 So she wore a blue running 🏃🏻‍♀️ shirt 🎽👕 & enjoyed a great sweat 😓💦💧as she always enjoy, yeah‼️

So happy 😃 she 👩🏻 has joined this Jejak Warisan Pintasan Saloma as both media & participant 🚶🏻‍♀️

It was a great 👍🏻 event organised with not just the fun walk 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️, also a Malay traditional costume & kids colouring competition

A great 👍🏻 sweat 💦💧 with a beautiful unique wooden crafted medal 🥇 Yeah‼️👏🏻🙌🏻

#COVID19 #Coronavirus Outbreak ~ Travel Not??

Updated 8 June 2020, 10am

Hmm…SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 as travel lover 💗 really curious 🤔

“Do you still continue your travel plans now due to the increasing ⬆️ concern of COVID-19❓⁉️ Even now with the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) for Malaysians❓⁉️

COVID-19 has already reached more than 💯K cases worldwide 🗺 🌍 according to World Health Organization (WHO)‼️ Most of the countries even exercised travel bans & restrictions ❌⛔️

WHO has declared COVID-19 as a pandemic @ 12 March 2020

Ohh no…There are many major events around the world 🗺🌍 have unfortunately been called off OR postponed to a later date because of COVID-19 pandemic

This included the cancellation ❌ of ITB Berlin 2020 ~ 1️⃣ of the largest travel exhibition, 1️⃣st time in the history 😔

The list of cancellation/ postpone running events via 🌐 https://toughasia.com/covid-19-chaos-race-cancelled-or-postponed/

Even with the many attractive ⬇️ flight fares & tour packages in the worldwide 🗺 🌍 market now❓⁉️

As travel lovers 💗💗, do you still planning your next trips❓⁉️

She 👩🏻 has read & personally trust that there are people 👫👭👬 still travelling to enjoying no queue at airport check-in counters/ imigresen counters & quiet planes ✈️ now

Also some travellers are NOT willing to forfeit payments made for travel & hotel bookings, leave cancellation & decided to just carry on with their holiday plans 😎

Hmm…Personally she 👩🏻 thinks that not to miss some of the flight sales now as the travel period till next year, 2021. By then surely no more COVID-19 by then, yes ✅, be optimistic & positive 😃😁

Just sharing her personal thoughts 💭 towards COVID-19 as travel lover 💗 Do continue reading 📖 till the end to find out “So, how about SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻❓⁉️ Does she travel now❓⁉️”

1. Reliable & latest COVID-19 updates

Keep yourself updated with the reliable COVID-19 daily updates i.e. WHO, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), local health ministries (e.g. Malaysia 🇲🇾 Ministry of Health) etc.

Refer below the daily COVID-19 status from Malaysia 🇲🇾 Ministry of Health FB page, as of this blog posting being updated @ 7 June 2020

Do check out daily COVID-19 updates in Malaysia 🇲🇾via 🌐 https://newslab.malaysiakini.com/covid-19/en

Also the reliable news 🗞📰 channels i.e. British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC News), CNN International, local news / radio 📻 channels etc.

2. Travel destination

If your travel destination📍is already with major travel warnings/ restrictions & having “widespread sustained (ongoing) transmission”, then the answer may be easy ~ CANCEL your travel plan

As at this blog post posted @ 10 March 2020, China 🇨🇳 , South Korea 🇰🇷 , Iran 🇮🇷 & Italy 🇮🇹 are the high ⬆️ risk countries i.e. with Level 3️⃣ Travel Notice Warning ~ Avoid Nonessential Travel from CDC

For other countries, you may then decide whether necessary & must travel during this period of time OR to reshedule/ postpone 🗓 the trip

3. Travel modes

Do you travel to your next destination with plane ✈️, bus 🚌, car 🚗, taxi 🚕, rail 🚂, cruise 🚢 etc.??

Travel with plane ✈️ currently as high ⬆️ risk mode of travel. If you do need to plan air travel, suggest to stick with those airlines that have more flexible cancellation & flight change policies 😊

Not just that travel with cruise 🚢 also not advisable due to the serious COVID-19 affected cruise cases being reported 🗞📰

4. Travel essentials

Rental pocket wifi 📶 is an useful item 👍🏻 to stay connected during your trips for latest COVID19 updates 😃

Standard travel insurance policies usually do not cover trip cancellations because people have a “fear of traveling”

COVID-19 is now well-known around the globe 🗺🌍 , hence mostly all insurance providers consider COVID-19 as a “forseeable impact on travel” & exclude it from coverage in most of all travel insurance policies, unless you have bought 1️⃣ before Jan 2020

Not to worry, do consider to upgrade your life & medical insurance policies 😉

She 👩🏻 has now added ➕face mask 😷, hand 🖐🏻 sanitiser, multivitamins 💊 etc. into her backpack 🎒

5. Self protection pre, during & post travelling

Keeping fit & strengthen own immune system. Do practise good 👍🏻 hygiene to self protect against any infections

Always carry your own cutlery 🍴🥢& reusable water bottle while travelling 🧳🎒

Also to avoid eating raw 🐟🦀🦞🦐🦑🐙 or undercooked food when travelling abroad. Not to visit any wet markets where animals are slaughtered, dressed/ butchered 🔪

Do try to avoid shake hands 🤝 / welcoming hugs 🤗 /  kissing 😙 lips/ cheeks/ hands when meeting people 👫👭👬 during travel journeys

Instead change to another polite greeting style, time to show what we have learnt from the diversity culture across the globe 🗺🌍

Let’s wave 👋🏻, nod & a bow OR a Namaste 🙏🏻 greeting

Do enjoy this creative Corona song, truly inspired for COVID19 prevention ya

Ohh ya…Each of us can now perform own self assess yourself via 🌐 https://www.doctoroncall.com.my/coronavirus/how-to-find-out-if-i-have-coronavirus-online-test

In case of symptoms suggestive of acute respiratory illness 🤒 before, during or after the trips, all travellers 👭👬👫 are encouraged to seek medical attention & share own travel history with the medical cum healthcare provider 👨🏻‍⚕️👩🏻‍⚕️

6. Be a responsible traveller

Highly recommend 👆🏻you all not to simply sharing any unverified messages, voice messages, WA messages, emails received etc.

Yes ✅, not to add unnecessary confusion to an already difficult situation

Stay alert & be mindful that only to trust the news gained from verified reliable news providers 🗞📰

Please note that you may be charged for spreading fake news, including through social media channels if being caught by your respective local territories 👮🏻‍♂️👮🏻‍♀️ then

How about SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻❓⁉️ Does she travel now❓⁉️

She 👩🏻 has actually decided not to participate 2️⃣ media trips within Asia 🌎 that she has been invited since 15 March 2020 📧

Yes ✅, she 👩🏻 does think twice before she on board her trips now due to COVID-19. She can’t be selfish & only thinking about her travel love 💗 She still had her loved ones (especially her mama 🧓🏻 after late papa 👴🏻 recent passed away) who will worry if she insists to still travel due to current COVID-19 threat

Instead, she 👩🏻 suggests to exploring own living city 🌆🏙 to ease your travel bugs & you may be surprised that many awesome places near you actually, as well as within states in her home country

Yes ✅, she 👩🏻 has been sharing 👩🏻‍💻📝 a lot more about Kuala Lumpur, her living city 🌆🏙 in her recent blog posts

Hmm…Don’t always want to explore other countries & being far away from own home country ☺️

Do check out her travel stories within the states of her home country #cuticutimalaysia 🇲🇾 via 🌐 https://siennylovesdrawing.wordpress.com/category/travel-tourism/malaysia/

Let’s be a responsible traveller & take care of own self to enjoy exploring the world 🗺 🌍 , of course including your home country

ONLY IF she 👩🏻 is an orphan, her thinking would be different. She will not care & now surely on long leave, grabbing all great 👍🏻flight deals to exploring the world 🗺 🌍 Life is too short not to travel & gain more life experiences, don’t you agree❓⁉️

Currently, she 👩🏻 is busy reading travel blogs, travel online magazines, noting down 📝 travel details & then planning for her future travel trips from her to-travel list, yes, a good 👍🏻 way to ease her travel bugs…Lol…🤣😆

Sharing is caring, do check out the list above to enjoy 12 museum virtual tours across the globe 🗺 🌍 ya

Lastly, she 👩🏻 wishes that COVID-19 will be under control very very soon & everything return to normal, the usual crowd in public transportation, on the road etc. At least, the RMCO just announced from 10 June till 31 August in Malaysia

She 👩🏻 does believes everything happens for a reason 😃😁

She 👩🏻 has tasted its signature Nasi Ambeng here with friends 👭👬👫, yummy yummy 😋🤤

Nasi Ambeng fun fact learnt from Congkak ~ The side dishes that accompany to it have to be an odd number & 9️⃣ to be exact to symbolise completion ⭕️💯

Curious about it❓⁉️

Do enjoy her vlog 📹🎥 captured for sharing as below,

Her favourite 💗 from this dining is Tauhu Telur (in Malaysia 🇲🇾‘s national language), really highly recommended must order ya 👍🏻👍🏻😋😋

It’s a tasty tower of fried tofu & mixed egg & topped with beansprouts, peanuts 🥜 & rojak sauce. It’s so so soft & smooth, really tasty delicious 😋 with its rojak sauce

She 👩🏻 loves the rojak sauce till pair it with Ikan Wayang 🐟 (in Malaysia 🇲🇾‘s national language) to enjoy, yes , she finished all the remaining rojak sauce

Ikan Wayang means the deep fried dancing fish 🐟 (Yes , how the fish 🐟 being presented on the plate) & served with homemade spicy 🌶 sauces named Sambal Tirasi & Sambal Kicap (in Malaysia 🇲🇾‘s national language)

The fish 🐟 was nicely fried & crispy to enjoy with either the 2 sambals mixed together or the rojak sauce from Tauhu Telur as her personal preference 👩🏻💗😋

Beats of Selangor 😃 ~ Malay

During her recent glamping 🏕 stay @ Dusun Bonda, Batang Kali of Selangor state, West Malaysia 🇲🇾 , she 👩🏻 has a chance to learn more details about the Malay traditional music & beats as below,

Malaysian Caklempong

It’s a traditional music 🎵🎶 of the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra, Indonesia 🇮🇩 however was brought to Negeri Sembilan, West Malaysia 🇲🇾 in the 14th century by the Minangkabau people

A small-size gong made of bronze  that produces melodious sounds & often used to play a wide variety of both traditional & modern music 🎵 🎶 Other instruments e.g. bamboo flute, “Saluang, Malay tambourine & gong are played together with Caklempong for various dance/ performance e.g. Pencak Silat, Candle Dance, Wayang Kulit etc.

Keroncong band performance

It’s actually the name of a ukulele-like instrument & an Indonesian musical style which typically makes use of the keroncong (i.e. The sound chrong-chrong-chrong comes from this instrument). So, the band consists of a flute, a violin 🎻 , a melody guitar 🎸 , a cello, string bass in pizzicato style & with either a female / a male singer 👩🏽‍🎤👨🏽‍🎤

She 👩🏻 has learnt that 1️⃣ ukulele named “cak”, a steel-stringed. The instrumentalist strums chords with up to 8️⃣ strums per beat in 4/4 rhythm. The off-beat strums are often accentuated. The other ukulele named “cuk” is slightly larger & has nylon strings. As a set, both the “cak” & “cuk” form an interlocking pair that mostly gives Kroncong its characteristic kron & chong 😊

Tor Tor Dance & Gordang Sembilan

Tor Tor dance & 9️⃣ great drumbeats/ percussion (Gordang Sembilan in Malaysia 🇲🇾 ‘s national language) are the cultural heritage of Malaysia 🇲🇾 ‘s Mandailing community, which originally came from Mandailing, North Sumatera of Indonesia 🇮🇩

It’s a slow motion dance with the movement of the feet / toe to toe 👣 & hand 🤚🏻 movements with a music 🎵🎶 rhythm played with the traditional music instruments e.g. Gondang, Flute, Trumpet 🎺 etc. At present, Tor tor dance is to celebrating harvesting, welcoming guests, wedding 🤵🏾👰🏽 ceremonies. No ❌ longer associated with the religious / mystical ceremonies in the past years

Kuda Kepang

It was 1️⃣st introduced in the early 20th century when Javanese immigrants 🇮🇩👭👬👫, who brought this unique dance & 1️⃣st arrived in the southern tip of  West Malaysia 🇲🇾 It’s usually performed by 9 to 15 pax, usually all men dancers traditional Javanese clothes

In the past years, Kuda Kepang is believed to have a strong linkage to the spirit world, however at present it becomes a regular dance performance for the birthday 🎂 of the Sultan of Johor, state government celebrations & cultural shows in Malaysia 🇲🇾

It’s a traditional Javanese braided hobbyhorse dance & in the dance performance, all the dancers will ride the 2️⃣D mock horse which is traditionally made of bamboo 🎍🎋, then painted & decorated with colorful paints and cloth to resemble a horse 🐎 🐴 Some of the dance movements in the Kuda Kepang rituals are based on traditional Malay silat

Beats of Selangor 😃 ~ Temuan Indigenous Tribe

The Sewang Bahbola Dance by the Temuan Tribe @📍Orang Asli Museum, KM 24, Jalan Pahang Lama Gombak, 53100 Gombak, Selangor, West Malaysia 🇲🇾

It’s a traditional dance performed by the Orang Asli of Malaysia 🇲🇾 for ceremonies of funeral, thanksgiving, to treating well the sick / wounded person. However, it has now evolving to also entertaining the foreign tourists 👭👬👫 A dance in & within a circle ⭕️ with music 🎵🎶 instruments which made from bamboo plants 🎍🎋

This Orang Asli Museum is a museum with a permanent exhibition gallery, a mini theater hall equipped with state-of-the-art audio visual system, a library & a souvenir shop to showcasing the history, living & tradition of the indigenous people in Malaysia 🇲🇾

Kubang Jela House Stay @ Terrapuri Heritage Village, Terengganu, Malaysia

Yeah‼️ From the recent travel 🚌🚍 to Terengganu 🇲🇾, SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 had an exclusive privilege to meet 👋🏻 & have a short chat 🗣👤 with the founder of Terrapuri Heritage Village, Mr Alex Lee 👨🏻‍💼 He is a Chinese Peranakan, born & grown up in Marang, Terengganu 🇲🇾

She 👩🏻 is gonna sharing 👩🏻‍💻📝✍🏻 here about all she 👩🏻 has learnt from her chat 🗣👤 with Mr Alex 👨🏻‍💼about the ups ⬆️ & downs ⬇️ in pursuing his passion ❤️ towards the conservation & restoration of Terengganu traditional Malay architecture 🏡🏘 He 👨🏻‍💼 has proudly told that he loves 💗 each old houses 🏡🏘 that he has collected thus far & each 1️⃣ is unique to him with a story behind respectively 😀

Question: Can you spot SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 in below photos 📸📸 album? She 👩🏻 was having a nice 👍🏻 pre-dinner chat 🗣👤with Mr Alex @ Sesayap Courtyard, Terrapuri Heritage Village during her recent stay

Ha…Ha…She 👩🏻 actually thought that Mr Alex 👨🏻‍💼was an architect by profession. Mr Alex has confirmed that he is a tourism industry player with own tourism businesses in guest house 🏡 , boutique hotel, dining 🍽🍴, cafe ☕️, tours, souvenirs (batik) 🛍🎁 etc.

Guess what❓⁉️

Mr Alex 👨🏻‍💼1️⃣st started to learn about guest house 🏡 renting (i.e. used his grandpa 👴🏻 ‘s 2️⃣ shoplots 🏢🏢) at his young age 🧑🏻 with initial intention to save for his education fund 👨🏻‍🎓He used to drawing ✍🏻🎨🖌own brochure to selling the rooms at bus stations 🚌🚌 & received great responses from many backpackers 👫👭👬back then. He 👨🏻‍💼also learnt how to package his room with simple breakfast ☕️🥪, yes ✅, he can cook‼️👍🏻

Ended up he 👨🏻‍💼 continues his tourism business till now without further study ❌👨🏻‍🎓despite in years between 2006 to 2008 with a cross road 🔀 for his choice, whether IT vs heritage, nature & culture. Obviously he 👨🏻‍💼has chosen the later. Ha…Ha…He has shared in his IG (refer above 📸) recently that he wants to be a Youtuber (IT) now (2019) being inspired by his youngest son 👨‍👦, a famous gaming Youtuber

Also she 👩🏻 is gonna sharing 👩🏻‍💻📝 about her wonderful overnight 😴💤🛌 in Kubang Jela house 🏡 in this village. Hmm…A night 🌌🌃 stay just too short, personally she 👩🏻 recommends for a 3️⃣D2️⃣N to appreciating the layout of an inspired 17th century Terengganu Palace 👑 as an great 👍🏻 output of restoration the Terengganu Malay old houses 🏡🏘 of at least 💯 years & above, as well as its peaceful village surrounding 🏞

💯 years meaning easily at least with 4️⃣ generations before Mr Alex👨🏻‍💼bought the old houses 🏡🏘 Some of the houses 🏡🏘 were once belong to the royal families 👑👑 Woow‼️😲 He 👨🏻‍💼has shared that 30 years ago, a full Terengganu old house 🏠 each cost of RM30K to 40K approximately 😊

How about now❓⁉️

He 👨🏻‍💼 estimates RM300K & above each old house 🏠 at current. He 👨🏻‍💼 has no  intention to resell any of his Terengganu Malay old houses 🏡🏘 collected, though he 👨🏻‍💼 was being offered with great 👍🏻 prices 💱💰couple of times in the past 😃

Hmm…Does Mr Alex 👨🏻‍💼regret❓⁉️

Personally SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻can confidently said “No ❌” from her observation, Mr Alex’s achievements from Terrapuri Heritage Village & chat with him🗣👤 about his journey

Why❓⁉️

You will be impressed as Mr Alex 👨🏻‍💼is very knowledgeable & passionate ❤️ in what he is doing for Terengganu old houses restoration & conservation 🏡🏘

Over the years, he 👨🏻‍💼hopes to continue & enhancing his project as a tourism products, currently he 👨🏻‍💼is running this Terrapuri Heritage Village as a boutique hotel resort space 🏡🏘 Owned a museum cafe dining 🍽🍴 (with advanced booking 📞☎️📱for event etc.) & an upcoming Terramalai, a collection of traditional Malay houses 🏡🏘 from all over the states in Malaysia 🇲🇾 & will be based in Batu Rakit, Kuala Nerus district of Terengganu 😁

After bought each houses 🏡🏘, all will be dismantled & then rebuilt. All Terengganu old houses 🏡🏘 were built without a single nail 🔨, it’s using the traditional “tebuk pasak” aka peg & joint technique with the help from the professional skillful Malay carpenters aka “tukang rumah” in Malaysia 🇲🇾 ‘s national language 😀

He 👨🏻‍💼emphasised few times in his sharing “We have to always go back to our own root. Culture is so beautiful & unique not to be shared to next generations 👶🏻👧🏻🧒🏻👦🏻🧑🏻

He 👨🏻‍💼has shared that he was struggled 😢☹️😔to communicate, convince the house owners 👬👬👬 to sell 💱💰their houses 🏡🏘 to him when he 1️⃣st started his heritage collection. Reason being he is a Chinese Peranakan, not a Muslim ❌☪️ He also proudly shared that he speaks fluent Terengganu Malay & this has helped a lot 😊

Once he 👨🏻‍💼has indentified ✅ the old house 🏠 that he is interested, he will slowly get to know the local house owner 1️⃣st. He is very persevere in his collection passion, he patiently kept visiting, communicating 🗣👤 Then, after knowing him better & appreciate his passion ❤️towards the Terengganu Malay old houses 🏡🏘, the house owner will sell their old house to him 💱💰 eventually

Guess what❓⁉️

There was an old house 🏠 that actually took him 15 years ✅🏡 after many many communications with the owner 🗣👤 Wow‼️😲 It’s named as Rumah Pulau Bahagia in Terrapuri Heritage Village & yet to be ready as guest villa currently ☺️

Mr Alex 👨🏻‍💼has actually collected the old houses 🏡🏘 for 18 years (all being dismantled & stored at the backyard of his parents 👵🏻👴🏻house, on top of stones & covered with zinc to protect the chengal wood) before he bought this 4 ha land in 2005 which surrounding with islands 🏝🌴 & Setiu mangroves wetlands (Safe from tsunami 🌊 & chance to view fireflies 💫✨at night) in Kg. Mangkuk

He 👨🏻‍💼was discouraged 👎🏻by family members & friends 👫👭👬 at the beginning that he shoud invest in other investment & not ❌ in restoration project. Also not in Terengganu as the location 📍that he has chosen ✅😃

Restoration requires for a long time frame & huge sum of money 💰💵 to maintain. He actually 👨🏻‍💼sold off his luxury cars 🚗🚙 & properties before just to continue this restoration project. No any  bank loan/ Government grant has obtained becasue this is a non profit/ business investment 🏡🏘

His passion ❤️ in Terengganu old houses 🏡🏘restoration that motivates him to continue his journey till now, future & never end 😁

Question: Do you spot a smiling 😃 craving in below photo📸❓⁉️

Terengganu Traditional Malay Old Houses 🏡🏘

From her chat 🗣👤 with Mr Alex, she 👩🏻 has learnt that the balance ⚖️ is important in Malay belief, hence the height & wide of each house 🏡 is required to have good 👍🏻 ukiran rumah aka house 🏠 measurement as it also meant for good 👍🏻 feng sui. To Mr Alex 👨🏻‍💼, life is a balance too, not just about making money 💰💵

The houses 🏡🏘 built with high legs to protect from flood & with aims to scard away the animals 🐘🦏🐅

The stairs (i.e. “tangga” in Malaysia 🇲🇾 ‘s national language) to each Malay house 🏠 must with an odd numbers eg. 3️⃣, 5️⃣, 7️⃣ etc.

She 👩🏻 has learnt that there is meaning for Terengganu house 🏠 gate. She was told if you have bad intention (e.g. to rob the house owner) when you step 👣 into the house 🏠 , you may end up unable to see the house gate to exit then🚪

Generally, the Terengganu Malay old houses 🏡🏘 are with beautiful 😍😍 wall craving, Islamic ☪️ influences, more to flora designs, some stupa are more towards Buddhism ⛩ No devil craving motives

There are 29 houses 🏡🏘 in this Terrapuri Heritage Village since 2012 i.e. 20 houses 🏡🏘 have been restored as guest villas & the remaining 9 houses serve as the resort reception, courtyard, spa, meeting room, library etc. ☺️

Actually he 👨🏻‍💼 has bought 💰💵💯 over houses 🏡🏘, only 29 units in this village while the rest serves as spare parts as most houses 🏡🏘 bought are only 70% able to be used due to extensively damaged & had rotting wood
