Glamping @ The Jungloo, The Kabiki, Phnom Penh

Hey πŸ‘‹πŸ» What’s glamping❓⁉️

It means for glamorous camping πŸ˜πŸ€©πŸ•β›ΊοΈ, aka camping β›ΊοΈπŸ•in glamorous style πŸ’—πŸ˜πŸ€©

SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» has participated for the Jungloo project at The Kabiki hotel 🏒 during her holidays at Phnom Penh, Cambodia πŸ‡°πŸ‡ earlier. It was her 1️⃣st glamping πŸ•β›ΊοΈπŸ˜πŸ€©, awesome stayπŸ‘πŸ»βœŒπŸ»β€ΌοΈπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜

A nice πŸ‘πŸ» experience being welcome by its friendly staff named Mr. Pisey πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ & he was very politely & patiently explain the tourist destinationsπŸ“πŸ“, what to do/ explore around The Kabiki (Where she has opted for her glamping stay) with a map πŸ—Ί

Do reading πŸ“– till the end as she πŸ‘©πŸ» also sharing about her stay with The Kabiki 🏒 in a Superior Double room with private terrace. She πŸ‘©πŸ» also will share her enjoyable complimentary πŸ†“ sunset πŸŒ… cruise β›΄ with Le Tonle wooden boat from her stay with beautiful 😍 sunset πŸŒ… of the day 😊

Also the 1️⃣st Jungloo which currently located πŸ“in the gardens 🌿🌱🌳 of The Kabiki 🏒, the next one will be soon available at TemplationπŸ˜€

Not just that, it will be also available at Mekong Bungalows – FloatationπŸ˜€

If you wish to enjoy a Jungle Igloo stay, more choices soon available within Cambodia πŸ‡°πŸ‡ with MAADs Asia ya πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜ƒ

What’s the Jungloo❓⁉️

It means the Jungle Igloos which are being designed specially for the tropical environments of South East Asia (SEA) 🌎 Jungloo with their shape & structure aims as an advanced natural climate control solution for very hot πŸŒžπŸ”† & humid weather settings. The Jungloos are quick to deploy & eco-friendly πŸ’š i.e. in line with the glamping travel style which currently trending & high ⬆️ demanding across the SEA region 🌎

It’s an option being created for semi temporary & at remote sites, the Jungloos are with low ⬇️ investment, low ⬇️ impact, easy to install & mobile around. This definitely a secure & sustainable πŸ’š approach to hospitality development for areasπŸ“πŸ“previously considered unthinkable / inaccessible πŸ€—

It’s built with natural materials i.e. bambooπŸŽπŸŽ‹, wood πŸšͺ& rope as well as with natural colour scheme. Brown, orange 🧑 & green πŸ’š colours are used to complement the nature & then to add to the jungle 🌳🌳 nature feel for this modern & glamping-style accommodation πŸ›Œ

Do check out the below clip πŸ“ΉπŸŽ₯ to learn more about the Jungloo structure concept 😍🀩

SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» really loves πŸ’— & had an amazing stay πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ›ŒπŸšΏπŸš½πŸ˜΄πŸ’€ with The Jungloo, an eco-glamping πŸ’šπŸ•β›ΊοΈπŸ˜πŸ€© Really cooling to sleep πŸ›ŒπŸ˜΄πŸ’€ in this pioneering, bio-climatic tent with air-conditioning as well as air-flow control πŸŒ¬πŸ’¨, ceiling fan & bathroom 🚽🚿

Impressive Bon Om Touk ~ Cambodian Water Festival 2018

Yeah‼️ SiennyLovesDrawingΒ πŸ‘©πŸ»Β is gonna sharing πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ“ here about her impressive 🀩 & unforgettable experience gained from the annualΒ CambodianΒ πŸ‡°πŸ‡ Water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ Festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ, Phnom Penh, Cambodia πŸ‡°πŸ‡

So, it was all started withΒ a short queue to get her πŸ‘©πŸ» cheap ⬇️ flight ticket ✈️ during the AirAsia BIG Xchange & BIG Fest event ❀️ in Sept (as shown in the short clip πŸ“ΉπŸŽ₯below). It was with only a limited choice of destinationsπŸ“πŸ“available

She πŸ‘©πŸ» has chosen βœ… for Phnom PenhΒ πŸ‡°πŸ‡ under Lane B with a very 1️⃣st intention to meet & visit 1️⃣ of her girlfriend πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ who is working there as an expatriate currently. However, sadly 😟 that her friend πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ wasn’t around ❌ Phnom Penh πŸ‡°πŸ‡ during her travel dates πŸ—“ Sigh…From a friend visitπŸ‘, then she had it as 1️⃣ of her annual solo travelsss πŸŽ’πŸ§’πŸ•ΆπŸ‘Ÿ

πŸ’— ~ Everything Happens For A Reason ~ πŸ’—

Also initially she πŸ‘©πŸ» did plan to let go this solo trip because of a clash to a tourism event ~ MITA Sarawak, Malaysia πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ that she πŸ‘©πŸ» has always supporting πŸ’ͺ🏻✌🏻the tourism authority 😊 in Malaysia πŸ‡²πŸ‡ΎοΈ

Guess what❓⁉️

Her trip is gonna be during the annualΒ Cambodian πŸ‡°πŸ‡ Water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ Festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠΒ named Bon Om ToukΒ in local Khmer language πŸ‡°πŸ‡ from 21 Nov to 23 Nov 2018 πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ It also known as The Pirogue πŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Racing Festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠΒ or Water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ & Moon πŸŒ‘ Festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ & Boat Racing πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

http://cambodia-tourism.org/plan-your-trip/events/cambodian-water-festival/

It was really a coincident‼️ Once she πŸ‘©πŸ»Β has decided βœ… to stay with this solo travel πŸŽ’πŸ•ΆπŸ§’πŸ‘Ÿ due to the complicated & difficult flight change 😟✈️ Also this gonna be her 1️⃣st visit to Phnom Penh, CambodiaΒ πŸ‡°πŸ‡

This biggest celebrationΒ marks a 12th century naval victory with boat πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ racing along the Sisowath Quay πŸ’¦πŸ’§ with the boat πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ racing on the Tonle Sap River, in particular the area stretching from street 104 to street 178 of Phnom Penh city centre πŸ‡°πŸ‡

Many hostels 🏑🏘, hotels 🏒, restaurants 🍽🍴 & bars πŸ₯‚πŸ»πŸΈaround this area ~ Very convenience for all visitors πŸ‘«πŸ‘πŸ‘¬

Photo 27-11-2018, 3 21 18 PMPhoto 27-11-2018, 3 22 33 PM

In the morning πŸ”…πŸ”† & before the race πŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈ starts during this 3️⃣-day festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽ€, the riverside & streets were much more peaceful 😌

Once the race starts around πŸ”Ÿam, the huge crowd πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘« at the riverside will be observed πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»

However, in 2015 this celebration πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ was cancelled ❌ due to the low ⬇️ water level πŸ’¦πŸ’§

Hurray‼️ She πŸ‘©πŸ» always wanna appreciating & experiencing a country’s tradition culture during her travels βœˆοΈπŸŽ’πŸ•ΆπŸ§’πŸ‘ŸΒ This is just so a lovely πŸ’“ coincidenceΒ πŸ˜‰

So, what’s this water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ festival πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰ all about❓⁉️

It’s a 3️⃣ days non-religious celebration πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ & symbolised as an ancient appreciation πŸ™πŸ» for centuries to the river πŸ’¦πŸ’§for providing a source of livelihood to the farmers πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŒΎπŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŒΎ & fishermen 🐟🎣

Hmm…It’s a kind of local Khmers πŸ‡°πŸ‡πŸ‘«πŸ‘πŸ‘¬ thanksgiving πŸ™ celebration πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ

The Cambodian boat crews πŸ‡°πŸ‡πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ were face forward. Many of the boat crews πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ were complemented with a colorfully-costumed lady πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈat the prow dancing to the beat of the drums πŸ₯πŸ₯

However, from her observation, majority of the boats now don’t really practising this tradition though. Hmm…From her 2️⃣ days visits to the festival, she only noticed for 2️⃣ boats with a colorfully-costumed lady πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ at the front of the boat πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

For the 1️⃣st 2️⃣ days, races πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ are run with 2️⃣ boats πŸ›ΆπŸ›Ά each, with the big race πŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ happening on the last day, when all the boats πŸ›ΆπŸ›Ά take to the river πŸ’¦πŸ’§ to compete πŸ˜ƒ

There were carnival, rides, traditional music 🎼🎢🎡 performances, dances πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ•ΊπŸΌπŸ‘―β€β™€οΈπŸ‘―β€β™‚οΈπŸ•΄πŸ»etc. in the evening πŸ™πŸŒƒπŸŒŒ

There were many stall vendors, definitely food πŸ›πŸ²πŸ₯˜πŸ½πŸ΄& drink πŸ₯€πŸ»πŸ·πŸ₯‚πŸΈπŸΉoverflow on the streets, Khmer pop bands 🎼🎹🎧🎢🎡entertaining the crowds πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘« etc.

Photo 27-11-2018, 12 43 20 PM

Personally, she πŸ‘©πŸ» was impressed how the local vendors actually earn their living πŸ’°by selling drinks πŸ₯€& snacks πŸ₯‘🍰πŸ₯§πŸ₯ͺ to the huge crowds πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘« at the riverside during the boat racing πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

There were approximately 300 boats πŸ›ΆπŸ›Ά with 19k pax of boat rowers πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Wow!!

Hmm…πŸ€” How about the huge crowd πŸ‘πŸ‘«πŸ‘¬attended for this 3️⃣-day festival celebration πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ in Phnom Penh❓⁉️

IMG_4571.JPG

It was about 4.5million people πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘« including expatriates, foreign visitors, local Khmers from all provinces etc. as shared at the closing ceremony 😁

Ohh yeah‼️ This year, 2018 i.e. The 3rd great successfull year with Cambodia πŸ‡°πŸ‡ has handbuilt the world πŸŒπŸ—Ί ‘s longest rowing boat πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈ at 87.3m long & 1.99m wide with cost of $60k. It was completed successfully πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ» in Sept by more than 14k local Khmers πŸ‡°πŸ‡πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘« in 192 days πŸ˜²πŸ˜ƒ

Guess what❓⁉️

Another Guinness World πŸŒπŸ—Ί Record πŸ† won (It’s the 5️⃣th one) by Cambodia πŸ‡°πŸ‡ as this long dragon boat πŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ is capable of carrying 179 boat rowers πŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈ on it‼️ Wowβ€ΌοΈπŸ˜² This great πŸ‘πŸ» news was anounced on 12 Nov at Prey Veng province of Phnom Penh πŸ‡°πŸ‡

From her own experience, a few points πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ to note if you’re interested to be at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap for this great πŸ‘πŸ» annual celebration πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰

Ohh ya…A pair of comfy shoes πŸ‘Ÿ is essentials βœ…Β because itΒ was vehicles free πŸ†“Β i.e. No public transport βŒπŸšŒπŸš•πŸš— 🚐 being available to theΒ festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ groundπŸ“, more details via 🌐 https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50551697/city-hall-issues-vehicle-ban-for-water-festival/

In this connection, the only option would be just getting around by your own foot πŸ‘£

Yeah‼️ SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» got her sun β˜€οΈπŸŒž protection from theΒ πŸ†•Β Petal Velvet SunawayΒ SPF50 ordered & purchased πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ›’ fromΒ Althea KoreaΒ πŸ‡°πŸ‡· You must remember to put up your sunscreen to avoid sunburn

Photo 27-11-2018, 12 35 31 PM.jpg

Next, do bring an umbrella πŸŒ‚β˜‚ (You may loan it from your hotel, it can be a weapon if needed)/ wear a cap 🧒

Do dress up in a light modest clothing πŸ‘š to enjoy the boat πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ race cheerings with the local Khmers πŸ‡°πŸ‡πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘« at the riverside under the hot sunny πŸ˜Žβ˜€οΈ day

Ohh ya…Do remember your refillable water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ bottle to avoid dehydration ya 😌

She πŸ‘©πŸ» was with the local Khmers πŸ‡°πŸ‡πŸ‘«πŸ‘πŸ‘¬ on her 1️⃣st visit & then 2️⃣nd visit the next day at the designated area by Tourism Cambodia πŸ‡°πŸ‡ for the foreign tourists πŸ‘¬πŸ‘«πŸ‘Β (Served with free πŸ†“ flow of drinksπŸ₯€πŸ₯€available)

The riversides πŸ’¦πŸ’§ were extremely packed & crowded πŸ‘¬πŸ‘«πŸ‘ with both the local Khmers πŸ‡°πŸ‡πŸ‘«πŸ‘πŸ‘¬ & foreign tourists to cheering for their favorite ❀️ boatsπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈduring the races, so suggest you to bring only the bare necessities & hold on tight to what you have. Also being alert with your surroundings too while in the huge crowd πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘«

Why❓⁉️

Hmm…You never know whether you will be being targetted by any pick-pockets/ bag-snatchers πŸ˜ˆπŸ‘Ώ whom may just roaming around the crowded festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ riversides πŸ’¦πŸ’§& streets. So, even thoughΒ this festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ is a free πŸ†“ celebration πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ , however it can get really expensive if you make a mistake by carrying valuables into the crowds πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘«

Always better be safe then sorry ya β˜ΊοΈπŸ˜‰

There were several types of rowing πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ styles observed from her visits, i.e. sitting down & manual rowing, standing up & manual rowing, standing up & auto rowing etc. She πŸ‘©πŸ» is curious πŸ€” how the marks will be allocate within each different styles as well as the determining factors of winning πŸ†πŸŽ– too❓⁉️

Perhaps logically the shortest time πŸ•› of completion from the start till end time of each boat at the finishing line (The 2️⃣ red ❀️ boats πŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ as captured in the photo πŸ“Έ & vBlog πŸ“ΉπŸŽ₯below)

There were live announcement during the boat racing πŸš£πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš£πŸ»β€β™€οΈ, however in local Khmer πŸ‡°πŸ‡ language & ❌ no English translation. It would be good to have a live English announcement in the next year festival onwards ya 😊

The King Norodom Sihamoni 🀴🏻, Prime Minister Hun Sen πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ’Ό& some senior officials πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ’πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ have all attended the closing ceremony on the last day of this festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ She πŸ‘©πŸ» has observed from the TV screen πŸ“Ί at the foreign visitors designated booth

Ohh ya…She πŸ‘©πŸ» has enjoyed the longest & the pretty 😍🀩 fireworks πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡ so far from the closing ceremony of this water festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ

Really amazing beautiful 😍🀩 & with the boats πŸ›ΆπŸ›Ά decorated with LED lightingπŸ’‘πŸ’‘screens represented by each relevant authorities of organising & managing this water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ festival πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰ e.g. Tourism, Justice, Ministry of Art & Handicrafts etc. to name a few noted πŸ˜‰

SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» has captured a vBlog πŸ“ΉπŸŽ₯ for sharing here, do click in to enjoy it ya πŸ€—

Ohh ya…Some of the eateries 🍽🍴 & shops πŸ›’πŸ›may close ⛔️ during this water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ festival πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ (All 3️⃣ days) & resume their operation then πŸ€—

This festival πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰ also ended with lots of clean up & tidy up at the riverside by the local Khmers πŸ‡°πŸ‡πŸ‘¬πŸ‘¬πŸ‘¬

SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» was blessed πŸ˜‡ that she πŸ‘©πŸ» stay with her decision to continue with this solo travel & really enjoyed this water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ festival celebration 🎊 πŸŽ‰ & highly recommended πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘†πŸ»to all travellers that would like to appreciating & participating local heritage & cultures celebration. Then, she has googled 🌐 & read πŸ“– more about being plastic free πŸ†“ to be a more go green πŸ’š & tourism responsible traveller

Guess what❓⁉️

There is a campaign happening now ~ Plastic Free πŸ†“ July πŸ—“, let’s participateβœ…She has been practising less ⬇️ plastic usage in her travels, now she has learnt more about zero 0️⃣ plastic…yesβœ…, not just being plastic free πŸ†“

Hmm…July will be a good start, let’s continue after yaΒ πŸ€—β˜Ί

From her research 🌐 & reading πŸ“–, lots of stuff actually all of us, yesβœ…, you & herself ~ SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» can do to contribute go green πŸ’š effort together gather by reducing ⬇️ the plastic usage respectively

Yesβœ…, she is believing in starting something small as each individual, then greater impact will achieve collectively then

Let’s refuse by saying NO ❌ to single use plastic & work together πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘« to try something small today by refusing straws & plastic bags‼️

So, some of the go green πŸ’š travel tips she wishes to suggest here to reduce ⬇️ single use plastic/ paper during trips or on the go,

1️⃣. Reuse/ Refuse: Bring along a reusable bagΒ whenever on the go especially weekend shopping & say no ❌ to plastic bag packaging from your purchases. Suggest to opt for aΒ foldable, then it can keep in clothes pocket/ bag on the go.Β This definitely reduce lots of single use plastic bags especially during shoppings

2️⃣. Reuse/ Refuse: Love πŸ’— coffee β˜•οΈ / tea🍡/ juices πŸ₯€/ smoothies🍹? Bring your own reusable cup. This definitely reduce ⬇️ lots of single use paper cups & plastic cover lids (hot ♨️ drinks) / plastic cups (coldπŸ₯€drinks)

3️⃣. Reuse/ Rethink: To avoid dehydration during on the go/ travels? Do bring a reusable bottle/ flask whenever travelling, this definitely reduce ⬇️ your chance to buy bottle mineral water, can beverage, packet beverage etc.

4️⃣. Refuse/ Rethink/ Respect: Suggesting to conference/ forum not to use cover plastic badges

Just a cardboard name tag is good πŸ‘πŸ» ~ SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» ‘s media tag from Mekong Tourism Forum 2018 attendance recently

5️⃣. Refuse/ Rethink/ Respect: Request for water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ to be served in glass bottle & cups from hotel 🏒/ hostel🏘/ guest house🏑 By requesting, you actually have sharing an alternative ways to them to reduce ⬇️ single use plastics. Or why not boil your own drinking water with the kettle provided in the hotel room?

6️⃣. Refuse: Say NO ❌ to straw when being serving with beverages in any stalls, shops, restaurants etc. You can still enjoy any beverage without straw or opted to buy a reusable straw made with bamboo / metal / pasta

7️⃣. Reuse/ Rethink: If possible, choose to dine in 🍽🍴any stalls, shops, restaurants etc. instead of packing πŸ₯‘your meals. This will sure reduce ⬇️ single use of plastic containers, plastic folks, plastic spoons etc.

8️⃣. Reuse/ Rethink: If really in the rush & require to pack πŸ₯‘ your meal, do bring along your reusable container, folk & spoon while packing your meals from stalls, shops, restaurants etc.

So, let’s start small as a go green πŸ’š & responsible individual cum traveller today to avoid landfill, reduce our eco-footprint & to protect our ocean 🌊 from anymore plastic pollution
