Keroncong band performance

It’s actually the name of aĀ ukulele-like instrument & anĀ IndonesianĀ musical style which typically makes use of the keroncong (i.e. The soundĀ chrong-chrong-chrongĀ comes from this instrument). So, the bandĀ consists of aĀ flute, a violin šŸŽ» , a melody guitar šŸŽø , a cello, string bass in pizzicato style & with either a female / a male singer šŸ‘©šŸ½ā€šŸŽ¤šŸ‘ØšŸ½ā€šŸŽ¤

She šŸ‘©šŸ» has learnt that 1ļøāƒ£ ukulele named “cak”, a steel-stringed. The instrumentalist strums chords with up to 8ļøāƒ£ strums per beat in 4/4 rhythm. The off-beat strums are often accentuated. The other ukulele named “cuk” is slightly larger & has nylon strings. As a set, both the “cak” & “cuk” form an interlocking pair that mostly gives Kroncong its characteristic kron & chong šŸ˜Š

Tor Tor Dance & Gordang Sembilan

Tor Tor dance & 9ļøāƒ£ great drumbeats/ percussion (Gordang Sembilan in Malaysia šŸ‡²šŸ‡¾ ‘s national language)Ā are theĀ cultural heritage of Malaysia šŸ‡²šŸ‡¾ ‘s Mandailing community, which originally came from Mandailing, North Sumatera of Indonesia šŸ‡®šŸ‡©

No āŒ longer associated with the religious / mystical ceremonies in the past years

Kuda Kepang

It was 1ļøāƒ£st introduced in the early 20th century when Javanese immigrants šŸ‡®šŸ‡©šŸ‘šŸ‘¬šŸ‘«, who brought this unique dance & 1ļøāƒ£st arrived in the southern tip ofĀ  West Malaysia šŸ‡²šŸ‡¾ It’s usually performed by 9 to 15 pax, usually all men dancers traditional Javanese clothes

In the past years, Kuda Kepang is believed to have a strong linkage to the spirit world, however at present it becomes a regular dance performance for the birthday šŸŽ‚ of the Sultan of Johor, state government celebrations & cultural shows in Malaysia šŸ‡²šŸ‡¾

It’s a traditional Javanese braided hobbyhorse dance & in the dance performance, all the dancers will ride the 2ļøāƒ£D mock horse which is traditionally made of bamboo šŸŽšŸŽ‹, then painted & decorated with colorful paints and cloth to resemble a horse šŸŽ šŸ“ Some of the dance movements in the Kuda Kepang rituals are based on traditional Malay silat

Maybank Go Ahead Challenge (MGAC) 2019

Yeahā€¼ļø SiennyLovesDrawing šŸ‘©šŸ» was recently invited šŸ“©šŸ’ŒšŸ“§ to witness the panel session šŸ—£šŸ‘„šŸ‘¤šŸ‘„ ~~ #ChallengeOfChoice: Nature Vs. Nurture ~~Ā whichĀ hosted by Maybank šŸÆšŸ¦ to featuring 4ļøāƒ£ industry leaders listed below,

  • Madam Nora A Manaf šŸ§•šŸ¼, Group Chief Human Capital Officer of Maybank
  • Mr Timothy Tiah šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸ’¼, Founder of Colony
  • Madam Anabelle Co-Martinent šŸ‘©šŸ½ā€šŸ’¼, Founder of La Juiceria
  • Mr Zikry Kholil šŸ‘ØšŸ½ā€šŸ’¼, Co-founder of Incitement

Yesāœ…, this session šŸ—£šŸ‘„šŸ‘¤šŸ‘„ is relating to Maybank GO. Ahead Challenge (MGAC) 2019, theĀ all-new šŸ†• approach to progressive & innovative hiring to uncover the young talents across Malaysia šŸ‡²šŸ‡¾ , ASEAN šŸŒŽ & the world šŸ—ŗšŸŒ

Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge is an international case competition that challenges your intellect, stretches your creativity & tests your endurance šŸ˜€ The challenge welcomes students šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸŽ“ from all study disciplines & nationalities from across the globe šŸŒ & puts you in a series of challenges designed to push the very limits of your potential. Since its inception in 2012, MGAC has impacted more than 1.2 million lives šŸ‘«šŸ‘šŸ‘¬ Wowā€¼ļøšŸ˜²

This amazing panel session šŸ—£šŸ‘„šŸ‘¤šŸ‘„ was attended by approximately 120 MGAC participants & university representatives šŸ‘šŸ‘«šŸ‘¬

What has the panel session šŸ—£šŸ‘„šŸ‘¤šŸ‘„discussedā“ā‰ļø

Mainly the topic of #ChallengeOfChoice: Nature Versus Nurture in the employment landscape & how the employers today utilise innovative approaches to attract next-generation talents šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸŽ“

MGAC is Maybank šŸÆšŸ¦ā€™s multi-disciplinary talent recruitment competition which has impacted the lives of over 1.2 million students & graduates šŸŽ“ globally šŸ—ŗšŸŒ since its inception in 2012

Themed Challenge of Choice, MGAC 2019 is redefined through the gamification of the programme, providing talents šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸŽ“ with a holistic platform to showcase their abilities. It also aims to test the ability of all the challengersā€™ in making decisions in life šŸ¤—

ā€œWeā€™re always looking for innovative ways to test & shape the future-readiness of the participants šŸ‘¬šŸ‘«šŸ‘ & #ChallengeOfChoice does that in a holistic manner. The new šŸ†• generation of hires are truly an exemplary group who have made such an impact in the workforce as companies across industries are adapting their ways – in balancing āš–ļø between nature & nurture – to attract these talents šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸŽ“

Weā€™re not just trying to find the best talent šŸŽ“ with MGAC – weā€™re looking to shape the leaders šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸ’¼šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸ’¼ of tomorrow. We believe that the true hallmark of a leader is about making the right choices in our everyday lives & how we can make sense of them to continue leading a life with purpose & meaning.ā€Ā saidĀ Madam NoraĀ A Manaf šŸ§•šŸ¼, the Group Chief Human Capital Officer of Maybank šŸÆšŸ¦

MGAC is the 1ļøāƒ£st talent recruitment competition to combine multiple disciplines that accentuate character with competence. Also the very 1ļøāƒ£st to be gamified now. It is geared to test those who can think outside the box šŸ“¦ while skillfully navigating complexities within & at the same time providing a personalised experience for the participants šŸ‘šŸ‘«šŸ‘¬

ā€œBack then when we looked at hiring a talentšŸŽ“, we chose their CVs šŸ“œ with a focus on scaling the company, the fastest way possible. But looking back & learning from the experience, I understand now that choosing candidates šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸŽ“šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸŽ“ who share the same beliefs & values as our brand is a more effective approach to building a solid foundation for a team šŸ‘šŸ‘¬šŸ‘«

Itā€™s a lot easier to nurture a team šŸ‘šŸ‘¬šŸ‘« that shares the same passion for the success šŸ‘šŸ» of the brand. The approach that Maybank šŸÆšŸ¦has taken with MGAC 2019 gives the new šŸ†• age workforce a platform to shine in different aspects & showcasing an all-rounded skill set that would make them a very valuable addition to any team they join,ā€ said MrĀ Timothy Tiah šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸ’¼, the founder of Colony
