Beats of Selangor ๐ ~ Malay
During her recent glamping ๐ stay @ Dusun Bonda, Batang Kali of Selangor state, West Malaysia ๐ฒ๐พ , she ๐ฉ๐ป has a chance to learn more details about the Malay traditional music & beats as below,
It’s a traditional music ๐ต๐ถ of the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra, Indonesia ๐ฎ๐ฉ however was brought to Negeri Sembilan, West Malaysia ๐ฒ๐พ in the 14th century by the Minangkabau people

It’s actually the name of a ukulele-like instrument & an Indonesian musical style which typically makes use of the keroncong (i.e. The sound chrong-chrong-chrong comes from this instrument). So, the band consists of a flute, a violin ๐ป , a melody guitar ๐ธ , a cello, string bass in pizzicato style & with either a female / a male singer ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ค๐จ๐ฝโ๐ค

This music ๐ถ๐ผ๐ตhas been widely believed to possess deep sacred powerย & it mostly associated with the trance rituals of calling of the gods’ spirit. It’s slung with a cloth strap across the shoulder & played by the drummer ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฅhorizontally. It’s played entirely with sticks & simply allows the drummer to either play it by standing ๐ฌ or walking ๐ถ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ถ๐ปโโ๏ธ around

She was informed that all the drummers of this music group are very self discipline i.e. only perform the music with full proper praying attire ๐๐as their performance attire, bare foot ๐ฃ & with no โ๐ปdrinking & smokingโ๐ฌhabits to respect this holy tradition heritage.
