ShopeeFood Users Reveal Food Malaysians Love To Eat Most

Yeah‼️ As a typical foodie, SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻💕😋 would like to share about the best-rated 👍🏻 restaurants across locations in Malaysia 🇲🇾 which being revealed by ShopeeFood users recently 🧡📲

The cultural diversity of Malaysia 🇲🇾 in many ways has influenced our unique flavours & ingredients. An amalgamation of Chinese, Indian, Malay & Borneo flavours, our taste buds are constantly tickled by a variety matched perhaps by no other place on earth

Which brought ShopeeFood to survey our cities for the best 5️⃣-star cuisines as rated by ShopeeFood users. During its last 3️⃣ major campaigns, such as the 9.9 Shopping Day, 10.10 Brand Sale & 11.11 Big Sale, ShopeeFood gathered data on food trends to find out what Malaysians loved to eat. Measured based on the most frequently ordered items on the ShopeeFood app 🧡📲, the survey showed 2️⃣ clear favourites: rice-based dishes & fried chicken

There is no denying that rice 🍚 is the heartland of this country. Aside from the multitudes of paddy fields across the nation, rice is our staple food, incorporated in our baby food, snacks, desserts & almost every meal. Whether it’s Chinese-style bowls of steaming rice 🍚, or the ever-famous Indian banana leaf meal & not forgetting our beloved Malaysian Nasi Lemak, rice is in the DNA of Malaysia & its people 🇲🇾

While Roti Canai may have hit the top spot on ShopeeFood’s top 5️⃣ cuisines survey, rice-based dishes & some form of fried chicken 🍗 are abundantly featured in our food trends. Chicken dishes especially fried chicken 🍗 not surprisingly also came out top in the best 5️⃣ stars cuisine found on the ShopeeFood app 🧡📲 Fried chicken is a treat savoured by young & old alike 😋👍🏻 For some, fried chicken was a treat enjoyed during large weekly family gatherings or just as a workday lunch or dinner.

According to a survey in 2021, Malaysians are the 3️⃣rd highest chicken consumers in the world 🌏 with almost 50kg of chicken consumed per year, per person *1. While it does not close in on the 82.3 kilograms of rice a Malaysian eats per year *2, for a population of just over 32 million people to be the 3rd highest chicken consumer in the world goes to show how much Malaysians love their chicken

Winning Malaysian Loyalty on E-Commerce Brands on Shopee Mall

Hmm…Are you all a frequent online shoppers with Shopee❓⁉️

Drive Loyalty with 💯% Authenticity; Marketplace Sellers Retain Shoppers with Personalisation

SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 would like to share here that Shopee reveals what drives Malaysian consumer loyalty to their favourite brands online in its Oct 2022 study ‘Winning Malaysian Loyalty on E-Commerce’ *. For official brands with storefronts on Shopee Mall, repeat purchases are driven by value-added services & guarantees. 87% of Malaysians surveyed prefer Shopee Mall official brands due to 💯% guaranteed authentic products, hassle-🆓 returns, & 🆓 shipping. The remaining 13% feel rewarded by exclusive product launches & Shopee Brand Memberships

Survey Methodology* ~ The 2022 “Winning Malaysian Loyalty on E-Commerce” survey was conducted by Shopee Marketplace, between 19 July to 17 Aug 2022. The biggest marketplace study to date obtained voluntary feedback from over 5K Malaysian buyers & sellers

For all other sellers across the platform, 5️⃣ in 🔟 shoppers repeatedly return to their favourite stores for more than 4️⃣ years due to in-app personalization & engaging recommendations. These respondents equated personalised engagements with: 25% loved product recommendations & bundles that fit their needs, 14% trusted in safe & secure packaging, 8% timely chat responses & 4% personal gift surprises. On the other hand, 49% preferred being rewarded with vouchers & discounts over personalisation

Kenneth Soh, Head of Marketing Campaigns at Shopee Malaysia said, “It’s encouraging for
brands to know that Malaysian consumers are very discerning online & will be loyal to brands that can be trusted. When faced with 2️⃣ similar sellers, 6️⃣ in 🔟 customers still choose official Shopee Mall brands because Shopee ensures users receive twice their money back if the products purchased on Shopee Mall are not authentic. Shopee Mall is trusted by over 4.5K partner brands in Malaysia 🇲🇾 & many of whom are integrating their offerings & campaigns with us to better serve their customers.”

“We are pleased to see many sellers driving more engagement with higher levels of customer service, winning customer loyalty as a result. We aim to innovate new in-app features that will provide extra added value for all users & a better buying-and-selling experience on Shopee,” Soh added

When not shopping online, survey respondents indicate that the primary driver of continued in-app engagement is discovering 🆕 interests on the platform; 42% surveyed enjoy exploring 🆕 products & trends. 36% play games, 14% participate in lucky draws. The remainder watch Shopee Live for entertainment or make donations to their favourite NGOs

All about Shopee app, online shopping, ewallet, ecommerce, ShopeeFood, ShopeePay, app, ShopeeAmbassador

According to the study, Malaysian shoppers do not only purchase the things they need & love from brands they are loyal to, they want to be entertained, connect with others, be inspired & do so with an ease of mind. It is no surprise therefore that 60% of long-time sellers on the platform (Over 5️⃣ years) build positive relationships with customers on Shopee through a combination of timely seller support features, market-researched offerings & affiliate networks

For example, 14% use Shopee Chat to cultivate and nurture deeper, more trusting relationships. Since 2019, Shopee Live has also seen sellers launch streams to demonstrate products, answer buyer questions & get real-time feedback from shoppers

“Winning Malaysian Loyalty on E-Commerce” is part of Shopee’s thought leadership series of year-end consumer & seller trends during big e-commerce campaigns

These data-driven insights allow business owners & brands to retain & reward loyal shoppers online
