Curious 🤔 about the indie arts❓⁉️

Indie arts is a shortened form of independent art & meaning the arts which are produced by artists 👨🏻‍🎨👩🏻‍🎨 independent of the mainstream commercial fine arts market, including art auctions 👨🏻‍⚖️👩🏻‍⚖️, art dealers, major art galleries 🏛🏛 etc.

1. Hand 🤚🏻 Block Print Batik Art ~ Cherry Art Design, Rawang

The founder 🙋🏽‍♂️named Mr Nik who have established his batik art business since 2010. However, he has actually with 1️⃣3️⃣ years of experience in handmade batik art industry 😀

Yeah‼️ She 👩🏻 got an exclusive chance to 1️⃣st trying & learning to do hand 🤚🏻 block print batik art, it’s truly an unforgettable experience 👍🏻✌🏻

She 👩🏻 totally agreeing that handmade batik art really worth the price paid because of the great 👍🏻 detailed effort to producing a piece of great quality batik cloth 👍🏻😍

Mr Nik 🙋🏽‍♂️is conducting workshop (advance booking is required) of 🔟pax maximum with total fee of RM700, i.e. RM70/ pax, all materials 🎨🖌will be provided 😁

Through the meet up & chit chat 🗣👥 with Mr Nik 🙋🏽‍♂️, she was impressed 🤩 with his passionate ❤️ towards batik art

He 🙋🏽‍♂️ has shared that he doesn’t ❌ chase upon the money 💰 making from his art passion ❤️, instead he 🙋🏽‍♂️wanna ensure his art satisfaction 👍🏻 towards the batik art quality received by his customers 👫👭👬

The raw materials play an important role in his quality control 👍🏻 especially the ratio to mixing the resist ➕ wax, as well as the heat temperature ♨️

Not just that, there is a detailed patience & being skillful of holding the cap right, applying the hot ♨️ mixed wax to the cap & then hand 🤚🏻 printing the wax➕resin resist to the cloth

He 🙋🏽‍♂️ further shared that he is into not too complex batik art design, then how he can make the batik art design lively on fabrics or clothing 👚👕

How he does that❓⁉️

Mr Nik 🙋🏽‍♂️ will meet & discuss with his customers 👫👭👬 to suggest the print design that suits he/ she, then matches the print design to what kind of clothing type etc. 😊

He 🙋🏽‍♂️ further added that while he 🙋🏽‍♂️creates a batik design/ produce his batik products, he always wanna the public who viewed 👀 his batik products will ponder this question❓⁉️ in mind 💭

“This is batik, very nice design, where to get it❓⁉️“

Not just the hand 🤚🏻 block printing process takes a longer time, the print drying process also a complicated process & time consuming as Mr Nik 🙋🏽‍♂️ has shared that no ❌ air cond or fan allowed, only natural heat 🔅🔆 & air drying to ensure balanced drying throughout the printed batik cloth, wow😲‼️

Hmm…Not just that the manual colour locking process also time consuming as at least 6️⃣ times & more of interchanging 🔄 the soaking of the printed batik cloth in clear water 💦💧 He is particular in ensuring 💯% colour locked, to provide hassle free 🆓 batik clothes washing 💦💧 for all his customers

2. Cold (Cool) Wax Batik Art ~ Desa Alam Batik (Batek), Shah Alam

She 👩🏻 also used its batik painting art kit, a very handy art set especially if you wish to organise for kids 👧🏻🧒🏻👦🏻🧑🏻’ activities 🎨🖌 ya

Hmm…What’s cold wax❓⁉️

She 👩🏻 has learnt from her recent visit that it’s with formulated ingredients & can be used at anytime without heating up ❌♨️

It’s a new 🆕 technique for batik art making, different from the traditional method 😉

It must be applied with the silk screening technique to outlining the batik art design with the cold wax 😊

Yes ✅, yes ✅, this silkscreen cold wax printing is reinventing the process of batik art from traditional chanting to silk screening 👍🏻😃

4. Miniature & Diorama Art ~ SamuraiDio Hobby Station, Klang

Once stepped in 👣 to the shop (gallery) of Mr Shaiful 🙋🏽‍♂️, the founder of the miniature & diorama art collection, you will be amazingly impressed with his great 👍🏻 detailed artworks

Since young 🧑🏻 he got inspired by his papa 👴🏻 who is in housing 🏘🏘 architecture industry, while himself loves ❤️ to making the village house miniatures 😀

She 👩🏻 loves 😍💗 this piece of miniature artwork the most

Guess what❓⁉️

The shutter door 🚪 of this miniature shop is functioning well, can move upwards ⬆️ & downwards ⬇️ ya 😃

Personally, she 👩🏻 feels that his customised miniature & diorama art from RM500 & above is a superb reasonable pricing 👍🏻💰as lots of detailed efforts required in each step of his handmaking process to complete 1️⃣ piece of miniature diorama

Mr Shaiful 🙋🏽‍♂️ is using recycled ♻️ items to build his miniature A great go-green 💚 effort, perhaps this helps to lowering ⬇️ the raw materials cost of making each miniature artworks, however his brain 🧠 power & energy 🧐💪🏻 used to complete each piece of miniature art definitely entitled him a higher ⬆️ value

5. Food Art ~ Zurasa Food

SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 loves 💗 very much the sweet & spicy 🌶 soy crisp 😋🤤 aka tempe kicap in Malaysia 🇲🇾 ‘s national language

Really happy 😃 to meet the founder, Ms Nazihah 🧕🏽who currently part time with this home based online food business 😉

She 🧕🏽is a working mum for 2️⃣ kids ~ 3️⃣ years old 🧒🏻& 7️⃣ years old 👦🏻, actually started this food business since 2013. However, she has stopped 🛑✋🏻 the business between 2015 to July 2018 to take care of her kids 🧒🏻👦🏻

Ms Nazihah 🧕🏽 loves ❤️ to eat 😋🤤 this Jawa traditional dish which then inheritated the cooking recipe from her grandma 👵🏽 & mama 🧓🏽

Its delicious 😋🤤 ingredients are soy crisp, soy sauce, chilies 🌶, onion, sugar, peanuts 🥜 & anchovies

Really tasty addictive 😋🤤‼️

6. Pyrography ♨️ Art ~ Pelukis Seni Kayu, Cheras

It’s woodburning ♨️ artwork i.e. a process of drawing a picture 🖼 on a piece of wood with a hot brass tip ♨️

A very detailed effort with the use of eyes 👁👁, a rest after pyrography art ♨️ of approximately is required to avoid the overburnt of the hot brass tip ♨️

Mr Maznan bin Othman 👨🏽, the pyrography artist ♨️ has just started this art technique for 1.5 years

He 👨🏽 is a full time artist 👨🏽‍🎨 for more than 30 years before by doing portrait art & wall mural 🎨🖌

He 👨🏽 1️⃣st started to self learn & practise his own of this woodburning art, then only referring to YouTube 🎥📽 when he got stuck with certain pyrography skills. He 👨🏽 loves ❤️ this art technique because it links to nature 💚 by using wood as the art medium 😃

He 👨🏽 normally enjoying his woodburning art ♨️ producing at night 🌃🌌 for 4️⃣ to 5️⃣ hours

He 👨🏽 has already receiving commissioned artwork orders fr India 🇮🇳 , Australia 🇦🇺 , local Malaysians 🇲🇾👭👬👫 etc. Bravo‼️💪🏻👏🏻🙌🏻

Mr Maznan 👨🏽 wishes more & more local Malaysians 🇲🇾👬👭👫 will accept pyrography ♨️ & he 👨🏽 is exploring to conducting workshops/ classes in the future, so that many more Malaysians 🇲🇾👬👭👫 will learn this art technique ✌🏻😀
