This motto is punchy enough to capture people’sattention. Malaysians in other parts of the country will get to embrace this 🆕 promotional theme. Furthermore, this emphasized our geographic location as a Malaysian State on theNorthern part of Borneo Island.” YB Datuk Christina Liew 👩🏻‍💼 remarked

This launch at the MATTA Travel Fair here will give a huge impetus to the growth of domestic tourism, said YB Datuk Christina Liew 👩🏻‍💼 after the flagged off 🔟 of 💯 e-hailing cars 🚗🚘🚖 which highlighted the Sabah’s 🆕 identity at MITEC, KL. According to her, all these vehicles bearing the ✨ Feel Sabah, North Borneo ✨ sticker will be around the Klang Valley area for 3️⃣ months as a promotion strategy

♬ original sound – Sabah Malaysian Borneo – Sabah Malaysian Borneo

Actually STB under the purview of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Environment Sabah, Malaysia 🇲🇾 has already launched the rebranding of Sabah’s tourism destination 🆕 tagline ~ ✨ ‘Feel Sabah, North Borneo’ ~ ✨ on 7 March 2023 at ITB Berlin 2023 (Internationale Tourismus-Borse Berlin), the world’s largest tourism trade fair at the Messe Berlin in Germany 🇩🇪 by YB Datuk Christina Liew 👩🏻‍💼, Assistant Minister cum STB Chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Datuk Mohd Yusrie Abdullah, STB Chief Executive Officer Noredah Othman as well as ministry & STB officials 💯👍🏻

“The name ~ North Borneo ~ (now Sabah) sounds exotic & evokes nostalgic feelings of yearning for this destination. It is also of historical significance as the state was then known as ‘North Borneo’ prior to gaining our Independence in 1963. People in many parts of the world (reportedly) haven’t heard about Sabah, despite decades of promoting this Land Below The Wind to the outside world, let alone know about our diverse natural attractions & iconic wildlife

However, we are aware that at the mention of Borneo or North Borneo, it rings a bell. Europeans in particular associate Sabah with Borneo. Hence, we are determined to rebrand this tourist destination with ✨ Feel Sabah, North Borneo ✨ to create a 🆕 identity in the travel marketplace. Sabah is home to spectacular natural wonders such as Mount Kinabalu, Maliau Basin & Tip of Borneo.” YB Datuk Christina Liew 👩🏻‍💼 has emphasized that STB wants the international community to know that Sabah is located in the northern part of Borneo Island in the hope of fascinating & wooing more European tourists, among others

Citing statistics from STB’s Research Division, YB Datuk Christina Liew 👩🏻‍💼 has shared that domestic travellers contributed two-thirds of the total tourism arrivals in Sabah prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. “For the pre-pandemic scenario, the total tourism arrivals in Sabah was 4.19 million visitors in 2019. That year, domestic tourism contributed 2.72 million arrivals while the figure for international arrivals stood at 1.47 million visitors. Last year, 80% of the 1.72 million arrivals to Sabah constituted domestic visitors. Based on the Domestic Visitors Profile survey in 2019, 1️⃣ finding is that for domestic visitors, shopping 🛍️🎁 activity is considered high ⬆️ compared with international visitors.” YB Datuk Christina Liew 👩🏻‍💼 further elaborated right after the launch of ✨ Feel Sabah, North Borneo ✨

With the recent resumption of international direct flights, cruise tourism & optimism about mounting regular or chartered flights from 🆕 destinations, Datuk Christina Liew informed that Sabah targets 2.2 million arrivals for 2023 & will work towards attaining 2.5 million arrivals. “If we succeed in hitting the 2.5 million mark, this would indicate an increase ⬆️ by 45.35% compared with 1.72 million arrivals in 2022.”

According to YB Datuk Christina Liew 👩🏻‍💼, Sabah’s top feeder markets in the past (based on 2019 data) had represented a good mix from Taiwan 🇹🇼, China 🇨🇳, Brunei 🇧🇳, Singapore 🇸🇬 & South Korea 🇰🇷 “For Europe specifically, our top inbound tourism markets are from Germany 🇩🇪, France 🇫🇷, Netherlands 🇳🇱 & Italy 🇮🇹”

YB Datuk Christina Liew 👩🏻‍💼 further explained that plans are a foot to explore prospects of luring tourists from 🆕 tourism markets in America 🇺🇲, Australia 🇦🇺, Japan 🇯🇵 & India 🇮🇳 via tourism roadshows by STB. Borneo Eco Tours, Borneo Nature Tours, Borneo Trails, Rustic Borneo, Sepilok Tropical Wildlife Adventure & Tabin Wildlife Reserve from Sabah are participating in ITB Berlin 2023, rated as the world’s leading travel trade show

SiennyLovesDrawing Sabah travel bucket list

During this rebranding launch of ✨ Feel Sabah, North Borneo ✨ & while explored all the Sabah travel booths at the MATTA Fair, SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 really missed her #cuticutiMalaysia at Sabah last year, gonna plan her trips again, yeah 😃😁

So, Let’s Re-Discover Sabah, Malaysia 🇲🇾

Sitting atop the world’s 3️⃣rd-largest island of Borneo, Sabah is a destination of timeless beauty where experiences await to take travellers on an authentic, memorable journey through its vibrant culture & natural wonders. Its unique blend of modern & rustic charms ensures there is always something to suit everyone’s needs, for 1️⃣st-time visitors or returning guests

Whether it’s a simple promenade along the beach ⛱️🏖️, a stroll through the countryside, a cruise 🛳️ down the river, a mountain ⛰️ exploration, or a plunge into the crystal-clear ocean water 🌊, Sabah is an absolute gem 💎 in the heart of Southeast Asia 🌏, waiting to be discovered and revisited. Given its diverse landscape, which includes tropical rainforests 🌳🌳, beaches 🏖️⛱️ & mountainous ⛰️ regions, the 2️⃣nd largest Malaysian state has become a popular getaway in recent years

Sabah’s Blues 💙

With more than 300 islands 🏝️🗾, Sabah has the highest concentration of small islands in Malaysia 🇲🇾 overlooking the South China Sea, Sulu Sea & the Celebes Sea. Positioned away from the hustle & bustle of the city 🏙️, visitors can enjoy a moment of seclusion on the tropical islands & indulge in a myriad of activities while on vacation

From the Pulau Tiga’s volcanic 🌋 mud bath to Pulau Dinawan’s beach glamping 🏕️, to Pulau Mantanani’s crystal-clear waters 🌊, to Kudat’s surfing 🏄🏻‍♀️ experience & Pulau Bohey Dulang’s panoramic view of the Celebes Sea, there is always an idyllic island & beach to explore along the west & east coasts. Wherever you go in Sabah, you will also be treated to a spectacular sunset 🌄🌅 view that is sure to create a positive impression

Sabah’s Culture 💛

There’s no better way to immerse yourself in a 🆕 culture than by attending one of Sabah’s many annual festivals. The state is known for its diverse population, with the Kadazan Dusun being the largest indigenous group, followed by the Bajaus & the Muruts

Kaamatan, or Harvest Festival, is the most important event in the Kadazan Dusun community’s calendar. It is held throughout the month of May to express gratitude for a good harvest 🙏🏻 The celebration usually features traditional rituals to appease the paddy spirit 🌾, offering outsiders a glimpse into the ancient religion

The Tamu Besar, which takes place in Oct or Nov in the Kota Belud district, allows visitors to see Bajau horsemen dressed in vibrant traditional clothing in action. Visit the interior for the annual Kalimaran Festival in March to learn about Murut’s craftmanship or participate in the Semporna’s unique water 💦 festival ‘Regetta Lepa’ in Apr to experience the Bajau Laut or Sea Gypsies’ traditions

Sabah’s Nature & Adventure 💚

A significant aspect of Sabah’s tourism is in the countryside, where extreme & laidback activities await visitors. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy forest 🌳🌳 bathing & lung-cleansing trips in the rural areas surrounded by lush greenery & serene river. Enjoy the sweat as you explore off the beaten trails 🥾 that lead to hidden gorges & spectacular waterfalls 🏞️, such as the Taralamas River Canyon in Ranau, the Merabung River in Lahad Datu & the Sinipung Hill in far-flung Long Pasia, just to name a few

For outdoor leisure activities, camping 🏕️ in Kiulu, Kadamaian & highland Ranau will guarantee visitors a spectacular view of the iconic Mount Kinabalu ⛰️, the tallest peak in Malaysia 🇲🇾 & Borneo

Sabah’s Wildlife 🐘🐻🐊 🐬

For the most part, this Land Below the Wind is a sanctuary for endangered & protected wildlife endemic to Borneo. It is home to 1️⃣ of the oldest rainforests 🌳🌳 in the world 🌎, dating back to 130 million years & 688 bird species 🐦🕊️🦜🦅🦉🪶

To observe wildlife in its natural habitat, take a trip to Sandakan & embark on a river cruise 🛳️ along the Kinabatangan River for an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime wildlife viewing experience. You may see Borneo pygmy elephants 🐘, proboscis monkeys, orangutans, sun bears 🐻, hornbills, crocodiles 🐊 & even Irrawaddy dolphins 🐬

Sabah’s commitment to conservation is 1️⃣ of its most valuable assets, making it an excellent example of educational tourism. Most of the established & world-renowned conservation centres, such as the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, the world’s only Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, Tabin Wildlife Reserve, Danum Valley Conservation Centre, Imbak Canyon & Maliau Basin, are located in the Heart of Borneo ❤️

Sabah’s Seas 🌊💦

There is just as much to see underwater 🤿🥽 in Sabah as there is on the surface, which is a unique experience in itself. From the west to east coasts, Sabah waters have been the sites of numerous encounters with majestic marine creatures of various sizes. Its abundant marine biodiversity has enticed divers from all over the world to visit & experience Sabah’s underwater splendours 💯👍🏻

Divers have been treated to sightings of killer whales or Orca, hammerhead sharks 🦈 & thresher sharks in waters off Sipadan & Layang-Layang islands. Additionally, the Sabah Ocean is home to endangered dugongs, which have been spotted off Pulau Tiga & Mantanani Island. Whale sharks are also known to appear close to Kota Kinabalu city in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park islands 😲

Looking for the best muck diving spot in Sabah❓⁉️

Semporna is unquestionably the place to be, as it serves as the entryway to Mabul & Bum-Bum islands, which are teeming with exotic little marine critters & minuscule species that have never been seen before

art , travel , quote

travel , art , quote

According to the UNWTO’s Policy Brief on Tourism & COVID-19, the crisis is an opportunity to rethink how tourism interacts with our societies, other economic sectors & our natural resources & ecosystems; to measure & manage it better; to ensure a fair distribution of its benefits; & to advance the transition towards a carbon neutral & resilient tourism economy

✨ ~ Tourism Futures Reimagined ~ ✨

With this theme, WTC 2022 aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for policy makers, experts & world leaders in tourism to present & discuss the most recent innovations, trends, practical challenges & solutions for the future of tourism. Also to champion thought leadership on tourism futures & strategies driving tourism’s recovery & resilience in a post-pandemic world 🌎

It features some 30 expert speakers comprising government policy makers, industry leaders & leading academicians, apart from UNWTO officials in championing thought leadership on tourism futures & strategies driving tourism’s recovery & resilience in a post-pandemic world. They include the State Minister, Ministry of Tourism Maldives 🇲🇻, Dr. Ahmed Salih; Regional General Manager, Tourism Australia 🇦🇺, Mr. Brent Anderson; Professor Emeritus, University of Wisconsin-Stout, USA, Prof. Jafar Jafari; Co-founder of Traveloka, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Mr. Albert; & representatives from some of the world’s most innovative tourism-related companies such as Skift, Tripadvisor, TUI Group & Intrepid Travel 👍🏻

It’s an inspiring addition to Malaysia’s 2022 Calendar of Events 🇲🇾🗓️ with a full return to in-person participation, in line with Malaysia’s reopening of international borders since 1 Apr 2022. LocalMalaysian experts also made an appearance on the exclusive WTC 2022 stage including Prof. Dr. Amran Hamzah of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia; Mr. HC Chan, CEO of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks; Ms. Lau Yin May, Group Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer, Malaysia Airlines; Mr. Yusno Yunos, CEO of Evenesis & 2️⃣ local Sabahans from Kota Kinabalu – Dr. Maklarin Lakim, Director of Sabah Parks & Ms. Jessica Yew, Founder & Director of Sticky Rice Travel

“This year’s conference is very significant for Sabah because Kota Kinabalu is playing host for the 2️⃣nd time after 12 years & undoubtedly, it is a clear testament to its fame as a major tourist destination 📍& a gateway for travellers visiting Sabah & Borneo. Kota Kinabalu is also 1️⃣ of the most attractive & popular destinations not just in Malaysia 🇲🇾 but in the Asia-Pacific region as a whole. When I came here in 2010 for the 1️⃣st time when Kota Kinabalu hosted the 2️⃣nd edition of the WTC, I was so impressed by its natural wonder & its unique culture & beauty with stunning tourism facilities that I made it a point to recommend 👍🏻 it to many friends in Asia including my fellow countrymen of Korea 🇰🇷, because I saw it as a very ideal destination to visit with one’s family & friends. I’m happy to report that many of them have taken me at my word & have come to experience the beauty of Kota Kinabalu.” Said Mr Harry Hwang, the Director, Regional Department For Asia & The Pacific, UNWTO in his opening remarks for WTC 2022

1️⃣ of the major highlights of the conference is the keynote presentation by distinguished speaker, Prof. Dato’ ChM. Dr. Mazlin Mokhtar of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network-Asia & Academy of Sciences Malaysia for the 1️⃣st time bring a scientist’s perspective to the WTC, particularly in advancing a more sustainable tourism recovery which embraces energy transition & carbon neutrality

Datuk Hajah Saraya Arbi, Secretary-General of MOTAC in her welcoming address has acknowledged the tremendous impact of the worldwide pandemic & multiple crises which continue to disrupt the tourism sector’s growth trajectory. “However, there is also a great window of opportunity 👍🏻 for us to rethink & reimagine tourism for the future which is more sustainable, inclusive & less susceptible to shocks,” She further explained

Despite challenging headwinds to the global economy in 2023 & beyond, experts have great expectations for the tourism sector, predicting continued pent-up demand alongside 🆕 growth opportunities & emerging niche markets arising from the pandemic. For instance, as tourism recovery gets underway, the boundaries between work, home, leisure & travel become increasingly blurred, requiring greater cross-collaboration 🤝🏻 between tourism & transport, health, security, cities & urban systems towards greater liveability & quality of life for both visitors & residents alike

“These are just some of the exciting new prospects that will be explored during this 2️⃣-day conference. Therefore, I hope the chosen theme of “Tourism Futures Reimagined” will inspire deep insights on the challenges, opportunities, trends and forecasts shaping the future of the industry,” Saraya concluded

Guess what❓⁉️

These are actually the great 👍🏻 efforts by Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) aka KK City Hall who initiated painting of murals on public bins & toilets all over town, in collaborations with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) in Oct 2018 to encourage clean city, importance of not litters 🚯🚮 to public, as well as beautifying the city outlooks including trash bins, that’s absolutely brilliant 👏🏻👍🏻

Art Galleries

Kudat

Visit to G Wonder Khayalan Home Art Gallery, it’s owned by a local Sabahan artist named Jainal Amambing, an award winning artist in domestic & international

Guess what❓⁉️

It’s also known as The Ugliest Home Art Gallery in North Borneo by the artist owner himself

Hmm…Why❓⁉️

Mr Jainal believes in finding art in imperfect things surrounding his life. So, he always love to portray the ugliest things from materials eg. The inner part of the Pokok Berlian, instead of the smooth tree trunk. To him, all things are art in different perspectives

Personally to SiennyLovesDrawing, this actually is a natural real look of an art gallery with the real art space of Mr Jainal to producing & exhibiting his art masterpieces & creative ideas

Absolutely an inspiring amazing gallery visit here. In fact, almost every corner in this home gallery is an instagrammable spot, highly recommended 📸👍🏻

Art Workshops

Met Madam Agnes Angkung for Litai art making activity @ Rungus Longhouse @ Bavanggazo village

It’s colour beads hand making accessories whether necklace, bracelet etc. The motif on the accessories is known as ‘Vinusak’ which means flower in the Rungus language

SiennyLovesDrawing so happy that she learnt this for the 1️⃣st time & got to make herself a pair of Litai earrings during this hand making workshop

Special thanks to Ms Nana for helping on a side of the earrings , while she did another side to complete a pair 😃

Ms Emily is patiently explained to her again & again, then she got it & managed to do the base for her coaster. Then, Ms Emily allowed her to choose the top pattern ie. Puvok (Owl 🦉 design) & helped her to sew the edges & finished a coaster, yeah 👍🏻

Murut Cultural Centre is the largest ironwood (Kayu Berlian, it was believed that if the tree trunk kept longer it will turn as diamond 💎💍) building in Borneo aka Murut palace, it’s located in Kampung Inalisan Pulong, Tenom

Her travelmates & herself enjoyed trying the colourful Murut costumes, Tuka Tuka ~ the Murut Custom, blow pipe, Langsaran (Trampoline) etc.

A good experience to explore this centre to learn more about the history & cultures of Murut tribes. There is an area exhibited the jars usage in ancient time within this gallery that no camera is allowed as it’s a respect to a real submission of “Tangkal” ie. Day 1️⃣

Her Premium Flex with Air Asia flight has departed to Kota Kinabalu (KK) from Kuala Lumpur International airport (KLIA2) @ 5.30am

Guess what❓⁉️

SiennyLovesDrawing was nearly missed her flight for the 1️⃣st time ever, she was lucky 🍀 that she didn’t, so you all still get to read her stories here 😅😂🤣

Unsure & don’t know why she wrongly remembered the Boarding Gate for her flight. Actually she got an angel 😇 who he helped to take her photo – Kota Kinabalu wall at departure hall. He asked, which is your boarding gate❓⁉️ She confidently answered Gate K 🤦🏻‍♀️, if she bothered to recheck her boarding pass again, she would definitely saved her energy to run & rush to the other end for the correct boarding gate that early morning

She was thankful 🙏🏻 that she got on the flight 🛫 to KK, she felt blessed. So, moral of this story to you all, do recheck your boarding gate before you walk towards it to wait for your flight boarding, if missed a flight is definitely not good ya

It’s really feeling good while on board with flight ✈️ after 2️⃣++ years, enjoyed looking out the flight window to feel the warm sun 🔆 rays & seeing the dancing clouds ☁️ up close while enjoyed her favourite flight meal ~ Santan Nasi Lemak Pak Nasser

Then, absolutely an amazing colourful graffiti 😍 named “The Nature Mind of Landscape” by Kenji Chai 👨🏻‍🎨 (IG: mr_kenjichai), it aims as a reminder of the value of nature & how all of us must do more to protect the Malaysia 🇲🇾’s endangered species, especially Proboscis Monkey (Nasalis Larvatus)

.

As an art lover herself, she got amazed with the beautiful wall murals 🎨🖌️ at KKIA painted by the Sabahan artists. Truly proud of all local art talents shown to the world the art & culture of the people in Sabah in different ways, forms & knowledge through art

Actually these art displays at airports are part of the National Art Gallery & Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (MAHB) initiative ie. KUL Art Airport to promote Malaysian artworks & to showcase these participating Malaysian artists’ cultural identities not just domestically, but also on an international stage. Yes ✅, both domestic & foreign travellers whether now arriving & departing from international airports at KL, KK, Penang & Kuching will be greeted by a series of artworks created by local Malaysian artists. Malaysia 🇲🇾’s international airports are the next cultural hubs

Happily met & greet with Sabah Tourism Board team members, Ms DG & Ms Nana, as well as tour guide, Mr Tommy Soo & driver, Mr Peter of Borneo Excursions at KKIA. Then, departed together to Kudat on a road trip of approximately 3.5 hours

SiennyLovesDrawing has tried from her travel mate order & loves the creamy milky non spicy Tom Yam served here

.

It’s colour beads hand making accessories whether necklace, bracelet etc. The motif on the accessories is known as ‘Vinusak’ which means flower in the Rungus language

SiennyLovesDrawing so happy that she learnt this for the 1️⃣st time & got to make herself a pair of Litai earrings during this hand making workshop. Special thanks to Ms Nana for helping on a side of the earrings , while she did another side to complete a pair 😃

Her travel mate,Ms DG made herself a keychain from this hand making workshop, yeah 👍🏻

Frankly, 1️⃣st time she tasted NO herbs taste & slightly salty Bak Kut Teh

HmmSiennyLovesDrawing is not gonna recommending this shop, hence no location details to be shared

Her travel mates have shared that the other Bak Kut Teh shop named Ho Peng Cafe (ie. same row as this shop), it serves better Bak Kut Teh, so perhaps worth to try if you happen to be at Keningau then. If you do, welcome to share your foodie feedback with her ya ☺️

After dinner, checked in to Mee Woo Resort & Spa for a comfy night rest as the bed 🛌was clean & comfy

Hmm…Her hotel room not a very well maintained room, the water heater was not very hot, the ventilation fan not working well with not pleasant smells, also she spotted a baby cockroach in her wash room 🪳😳🤯

Then, she was really disappointed that the wifi was so weak & unable to connect in the room. Hope it improves better then

It’s worth checking out its swimming pool with slides (Including kids pool) aka water park here. For non hotel guests, you may pay an entrance fee to enter & enjoy this water park 🏞️ It offers spa services with reasonable price within it

Her travelmates & herself enjoyed trying the colourful Murut costumes, Tuka Tuka ~ the Murut Custom, blow pipe, Langsaran (Trampoline) etc.

A good experience to explore this centre to learn more about the history & cultures of Murut tribes. There is an area on jars usage in ancient time in this gallery that no camera allowed as it’s a respect to a real submission of “Tangkal” ie. Coffin ⚰️ in a vase to display in the center

She then attended a beautiful mandala woven art workshop with Christianne Goonting aka Tianne using some recycle/ upcycle materials eg. Chopsticks from takeaways, bread bag packaging & with beautiful colourful woven, then happily kept this beautiful craft made after

SiennyLovesDrawing learnt the basics & enjoyed to string her magic to form her 1️⃣st mandala woven crafting for the 1️⃣st time

Also she shared that string art is an art arrangement with coloured threads & are wound around a grid of nails on a board to form a specific pattern or image

A good meet up & chit chat with her, also had an amazing visit to her home gallery & got inspired by her art passion & creating mind to have recycling & upcycling in mind, bravo 👏🏻

Ohh ya…She is accepting local artists artworks to display at her gallery at no cost to support local art talents community 👍🏻

Enjoyed a big bowl of bitter gourd soup vermicelli with a mix of both fresh fish & fried fish slices as lunch @ 📍 Kwong Sup Ikan. Surprisingly that the name of the soup in Cantonese/Mandarin “江鱼仔”, it means anchovies, however none of the dishes related to it, perhaps the soup base 🤔

The fresh fish slice is tasty to enjoy with a sense of fresh sweetness, while she is not to enjoy the fried fish slice, she prefers more dried fried, as she doesn’t really like the taste of flour coated on the fish slice. Just her own tasting preference ya ☺️

The bitter gourd soup base is slightly plain to her taste buds & not bitter. She would have preferred a thicker bitter taste soup base. She has tried a sip of the tomatoes soup 🍅🍲 base from her travel mate’s bowl, it tastes better as compared to bitter gourd

Visit Sabah Art Gallery, it promotes the arts by local artists. Started 1984, already 38 years old now. A building completed 2013 & belongs to Sabah State Government

Known for being the 1️⃣st green building in Borneo & Sabah, also the 1️⃣st green public gallery in Malaysia 🇲🇾 by using the solar ☀️panel, (partial of the electricity in gallery, especially those lighting on paintings), rain 🌧️ water harvesting for toilet/ rest room usage, sensor movement light, dim 🔅 light systems, sky light to reception area etc.

Its architecture ideas based on traditional basket & 3️⃣ ethnic tribes ie. Rungus, Murut & Dusun in Sabah

When stepped in to the lobby for entrance ticket 🎟️, you will be welcomed by giant Pinakol art installation created with recycled plastic bottles 🤩😍 Then, the reception table is a wood sculpture with kayu tembusu, it looks like a giant hand holding the painting palette 🎨, a mini souvenirs shop named Karai84 with 20% commission upon sales made on the local artists’ art & crafts, with priority to Sabahan artists

A cooling camp site stayed here, not very comfortable as the camp was rented without a proper comfy base. Hope it can be improved then as she has suggested to Aunty Silis. She told that she will order online the inflatable air bed, that’s great to hear 👍🏻

So, here a blog post to sharing in detailed about SiennyLovesDrawing ‘s virtual letter to Sabah Tourism #flymetoSabah 👩🏻✍🏻💌📬👩🏻‍💻

Dear Sabah Tourism,

Yes, Sienny Yong aka SiennyLovesDrawing 👩🏻 would like to explore more about Sabah & Sarawak in the future which both made Malaysia owns the 25% of Borneo’s land. Borneo, the 3️⃣rd largest island 🏝️ in the world 🌎 & divided between 3 countries ie. Indonesia 🇮🇩 , Malaysia 🇲🇾 & Brunei 🇧🇳

Once upon a time…

Still recalled her 1️⃣st fly to Sabah was right after her university graduation 👩🏻‍🎓🎓 & as a graduation celebration 🎉🥳 trip to reward herself by opting for a hike to Mt Kinabalu (Mt KK) ⛰️ (aka Akinabalu by the local Sabahan people), it’s her 1️⃣st hiking 🥾 trip, also to explore Malaysia’s 1️⃣st heritage site, Kinabalu Park. Hmm…It was really long long ago & at that time she has got no social media platforms to show off her summit photo with her full colour certificate at that time 😃😁 She was hike up with Mesilau route, it’s with beautiful scenery, though slightly longer journey as compared to the route she opted to go down, Timpohon route, a stairs alike route & not comfortable for her tiring legs back then. Guess what❓⁉️ Her beautiful colour certificate is nicely kept in the safety deposit box with a local bank 🏦 now, 1️⃣ of her precious achievements in life ✨👍🏻

Then, her 2️⃣nd fly to Sabah was as a volunteer to collect & supply stationeries & teaching to some Bajau Laut kids at the rural sea nomad villages of Semporna Island 🏝️ Still recalled the chalet hotel that she stayed was being flooded due to a heavy rain 🌧️ storm & the rising level of sea 🌊 water at that time. She joined her other volunteers together with the chalet staffs to clean up the chalets surrounding. The pure hearts & smiles of the rural kids still warm kept in her heart ❤️ It was a memorable weeks spent with the local Sabahan kids & people, sure the kids have all grown up healthily now. Interactions with local people is what SiennyLovesDrawing enjoys & treasures the most, valuable juicy life stories, learning more about local living, cultures etc. Absolutely precious 💕

.

These 2️⃣ travels to Sabah shared above were happened when she has yet to start her lifestyle blogging here at that time, also she wasn’t active in social media postings too

Then her blogging passion here ✍🏻👩🏻‍💻 got noticed & received honourable media invitation 📧 to join the Malaysia Inbound Tourism Association (MITA) business networking 3️⃣D2️⃣N trip in 2018. 3️⃣rd fly to Sabah to explore & then shared her travel stories about the eco tourism at Sabah, read more via 🌐 https://siennylovesdrawing.wordpress.com/2018/12/17/6-eco-tourism-must-see-in-sabah-malaysian-borneo/ & 📌🌐 https://twitter.com/SiennyLovesDraw/status/1070869540232286208
