Yeah! My handrawn farewell gift ๐Ÿ›ซโœ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ–Œ๐ŸŽจ

Hmm…work in progress…preparing a farewell gift for a special colleagueย cum friend with my handrawn detailed art ๐Ÿ–Œ๐ŸŽจ

With one of his favorite life quote as recorded in his Whatsapp profile,

~ Arise, awake, stop not until your goal is achieved ~ย from Swami Vivekananda

Met him 3 years ago as he was contracted from our Chennai office, then we became good friend working together since then.

Still remembered we known each other better from our attendance together to Versatile Professional training. His versatile profile is completely opposite from mine, but we are really good friends, yet we always joke about it.

His contract ends & need to back to his home country with his wife & baby boy. All the best to your future endeavours, Sri & stay well always ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hope he will like this handrawn farewell gift from me, SiennyLovesDrawing ๐Ÿ˜†

Ola Bola, dreamโ€ฆpassionโ€ฆdeterminationโ€ฆfriendshipโ€ฆteam spirit ๐Ÿ˜ƒโšฝ๏ธ

Recently went to watch this Malaysian movie with my family members during CNY, and I am truly impressed and proud with Mr Chiu Keng Guan, our local film director as well as his talented and passionate cast and crew of this brilliant Malaysian movie ๐Ÿค—

Chiu Keng Guan - the film director.jpg

Ola Bola is a fictional film story with fictional characters and based on a true event i.e. the whole Malaysian football team has competed and qualified forย the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

I must self-confess 1st that I know nothing about football, but I enjoyed my watch of this Malaysian sport movie. This cinematography was breath taking, the beautifully articulated storyline and the acting felt real.

Hmmโ€ฆjust that the wigs and moustaches looked a bit awkwardly out of place ๐Ÿ˜

OlaBola movie poster.jpg

Personally I am inspired with some of the movie scenes and spoken phrases in Ola Bola that touched my heart are relating to dream, passion, determination, friendship and team spirit.

Hmmโ€ฆWhat and why?

This movie transported me back to an era in 1980โ€™s where the national footballers played football for the love of the game, NOT for the money.

A very simple dream with each of the national footballer is just to play well and not to disappoint their sport audiences, who bought tickets to enter in Stadium Merdeka just to watch the match and shout loudly in supporting and cheering all the Malaysian national footballers.

The historical Stadium Merdeka

During that era, national sport players didnโ€™t earn as much as now. You may be surprised with the pay rate of an allowance of RM5 or RM50. When there was a won for a match, then will earn RM100.

You may interested to read an interview with some insights shared by the ex-national footballers, http://www.therakyatpost.com/news/2016/01/28/ola-bola-screening-takes-ex-national-footballers-back-to-1980/

Day or night, the national footballers played football. Rain or shine, they played football. Injury or fine, they played football as filmed in Ola Bola how passionate and determine for their football dream.

Passion and determination

This movie filmed its actors that no matter how difficult to continue pursue what you enjoy the most, being passionate and determine towards it definitely drives though.

Taukeh Chow busy in his life as a rubber tapper, office clerk and also helping his girlfriend at the funfair at night on top of his daily football practices. But his younger sister still disapproves of his football chasing passion.

Chow - Captain

As an eldest son, Muthu always get the flak from his father because he is not always in his family to deliver all coconuts to the shops due to his football practices. โ€œI know nothing except footballโ€

Also the aspiring sports commentator named Rahman, he is so passionate in his career by always diligently practising his live news reporting with his twin daughters at home. Even in his dream, also about his live sport reporting ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rahman - sport commentator

“It is easier leaving than to stay on”

Marianne has decided to continue her career in Malaysia, instead of the foreign career opportunity.

Friendship and team spirit

Ola Bola is a rare Malaysian film that succeeds on almost every level where each character, scene, costume and jokes celebrates our difference and unites us as Malaysian.

It is a local Malaysian film that ignites the patriotism in each of us as a Malaysian. It managed to film a simple but yet an effective premise i.e. United we stand, divided will fall.

โ€œKita menang sama-sama, kita kalah sama-samaโ€

Footballers busy in their trainings

It is a heart-warming tale the Malaysian football team who has to overcome their differences and personal struggles for a chance at international success. ย They are left with only one chance for international glory, and this team have to unite for the country and qualify for the 1980s Olympic Games in Moscow, Russia.

โ€œI cover you.โ€

โ€œNo matter what happens, we go forward as a team.โ€

Ola Bola shows the lives of Malaysian characters from different backgrounds, culture and ethnicity. It depicts genuinely heart-warming racial harmony within Malaysia, a true “1Malaysia”.

โ€œKerjasama adalah senjata kamu yang paling kuat.โ€

Most Malaysian movies would be conveyed in one language alone or perhaps two at most. While watchingย Ola Bola, I enjoyed and had lost my counting of how many languages and dialects were spoken in it. I am impressed with the movie subtitles to ensure all audiences understand the whole movie.

Mr Chiu is very good in choosing and filming beautiful scenery of Malaysia with great nature timing. In Ola Bola, he manages to film Sabah scenery beautifully. I really love and enjoy all the mountain, paddy field scenes. In particular, the old Sabah trains! I am going to check it out to enjoy my Sabah train journey in the near future as I like to travel with train ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿš‚

Would like to end my sharing about this inspired Malaysian movie with the MV of the beautiful Malay song named Arena Cahaya via link, https://vimeo.com/154953166

I love this song lyric very much ๐Ÿ˜€

Ola Bola creates another history as Malaysiaโ€™s 1st feature film which uses the immersive Dolby Atmos sound technology.ย ย Trust me that it is worth the slightly more expensive ticket to enjoy this optimal surround-sound quality.

If you have not watched it, go! go! go! go! go! go! go! go! Watch it!

Especially for those who have a dream and passion, do continue to diligently and being determine in your chasing journey, surely it will end with a success ๐Ÿ˜„

Reprint my artworks…copy right…price quote??

Recently I had a discussion with a potential client about an art project for his business. He has requested for a price quote. If he engages me as the artist, reprint of my artworks for his business usage will be required. I have asked, but he remains silent on reprinting quantity & whether SiennyLovesDrawing will be mentioned as the artist. Hmm..Why he remains silent about the 2 main concerns of mine??

I have consulted my art master, Mr. FS Loo & some artist friends. They shared that if the reprint of my artworks is required, I need to include the copy right to protect the origin as the owner of my handrawn artworks.

To me, if this potential client confirmed that SiennyLovesDrawing will be mentioned throughout his reprinting, I will definitely reduce my price quote as I am mentioned as the artist cum owner to the artworks. I am satisfy as long as SiennyLovesDrawing is not hidden & whoever receive my artworks from his business are well aware that I am the artist ๐Ÿ˜Š I guess this will be the art satisfaction for most artists, not the monetary.

I have provided a price quote, however am unsure whether it will be too low/ too high to this potential client based on his budget costing. Wish I will be engaged for this art project, then I can share my art passion with more people then ๐Ÿ˜Š

If you were in a similar situation before, welcome to share your thoughts/ experiences either with a comment or write to siennylovesdrawing@outlook.com

I usually quote my artwork for sale based on the detailed art & hours spent to complete each of the artwork. Art is subjective & everyone appreciate art differently. I truly appreciate all my clients who paid for my artworks based on the fine detailed art with my time & effort well spent. Thank you very much for supporting SiennyLovesDrawing ๐Ÿ˜Š
