Samut Sakhon ~ Hidden gem in Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡

Hey all‼️ How have you spent your 2018 year end break❓⁉️

SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ»Β would like to sharing πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ“ about her 2018 year end travelling πŸŽ’πŸ•ΆπŸ‘ŸπŸ§’ with Take Me Tour, Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡

Pick 1️⃣ ~Β Samut Sakhon from Bangkok: Salt Farm Tour & Homemade Seafood ~Β

Yes βœ…, she πŸ‘©πŸ» has booked πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ›’ more than a tour…do stay tune for her next blogging ya πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ“

Actually not just a wide variety of day tours, Take Me Tour also providing private car πŸš—πŸš™ airport transfer ✈️, SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» has booked πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ›’βœ… for a few & really impressed πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ€© with its reliable, safe & comfy ride πŸš—πŸš™ to/ from Don MueangΒ International Airport ✈️

Do consider for your convenience especially with night πŸŒƒπŸŒŒπŸ›¬ arrival ya

Before she πŸ‘©πŸ» has decided on this tour, she πŸ‘©πŸ» has read πŸ“– about the local expert of this said tour named Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈΒ who has introduced herself as a wanderer in this small village & then become a close friend to many villagers πŸ‘«πŸ‘πŸ‘¬

TH4.JPG

During the tour, SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» has observed that Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈΒ really having a great πŸ‘πŸ» relationship with the villagers πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘« & communicating well πŸ—£πŸ‘₯πŸ‘€πŸ‘₯ with them. Definitely a strong healthy bonding πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ€ & friendship being built, bravo πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ» to her πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€ΌοΈ

She πŸ‘©πŸ» also truly believes that Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈhas chosen βœ… to lead this day tour to introduce to all guests πŸ‘¬πŸ‘πŸ‘« about this small village in a less travelledΒ  province ~ Samut Sakhon, Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ i.e. from the salt water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ gate, mangrove forest 🌳🌳 , salt farm, home made seafoods πŸ½πŸ΄πŸ¦€πŸ¦πŸŸ etc.

Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈΒ also aims to help to boost ⬆️ the economy of this small village & increase ⬆️ the earning power πŸ’° of the villagers πŸ‘πŸ‘«πŸ‘¬ here especially during the raining β˜”οΈπŸŒ§ season where most of the salt farmers here will be experiencing the low ⬇️ salt harvesting

Hmm…How’s this day tour thoughout❓⁉️

She πŸ‘©πŸ» woke up early that morning πŸ”…πŸ”† & went for a local Thai “bak kut teh” breakfast πŸ˜‹πŸ€€ , a non-halal dish ~ herb pork πŸ–πŸ·πŸ½ soup 🍲πŸ₯£ served with riceΒ πŸ›πŸ˜‹πŸ€€ It’s just a stall outside of a local Thai πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡πŸ‘«‘s home 🏠🏑 & within walking πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™€οΈ distance fromΒ her hotel 🏒 namedΒ Bangkok Loft InnΒ

This hotel 🏒 is located atπŸ“55 Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Rd., Bangyeerua, Thonburi, Bangkok 10600, Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ A nice πŸ‘πŸ» comfy stay πŸ›ŒπŸšΏπŸš½with its strategic locationπŸ“ i.e. 5️⃣mins walking πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™€οΈ distance to the Wongwian Yai BTS skytrain station πŸš‰, very convenient πŸ†—πŸ†’ More details for your hotel booking πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ›’ via 🌐 http://www.bangkokloftinn.com/Β

After breakfast πŸ½πŸ΄πŸ˜‹πŸ€€, she πŸ‘©πŸ» then proceeded πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™€οΈto take the BTS skytrain 🚊 from Wongwian Yai station πŸš‰Β Oppsss…Too early arrival πŸ”…πŸ”† atΒ BTS stationΒ named Wutthakat πŸš‰, not because of the time difference ya…

Yesβœ…, she was about 1️⃣ hour early from meet up @ 9️⃣am to meet up with Khun HansaΒ πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈΒ as stated in her Take Me Tour booking πŸ“Œ Just too excited πŸ˜† for the day tour, Ha…Ha…Don’t laugh πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚ at her ya

Yeah‼️ A very niceΒ πŸ‘πŸ»Β morningΒ πŸ”…πŸ”†Β view with riverΒ πŸ’¦πŸ’§, long boatΒ πŸ›ΆΒ & watΒ β›©Β from the BTS stationΒ πŸš‡Β during her wait for the meet up πŸ‘©πŸ»πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Hmm…She πŸ‘©πŸ» was a bit lazy, else she would have walkπŸšΆπŸ»β€β™€οΈto visit this wat Β β›©Β nearby that morning πŸ”…πŸ”† Instead she πŸ‘©πŸ» seated down in the BTS station πŸš‰ & then logged in to her social medias πŸ“± & catching up with her friends & family members πŸ‘«πŸ‘πŸ‘¬Β with her new πŸ†• Β Thai simcard named DTAC , more details via 🌐 https://www.dtac.co.th/en/move-to-dtac/

Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈΒ was early to arrive too, so both πŸ‘©πŸ»πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ then started this day tour slightly early that the scheduled time of 9️⃣am

Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈΒ is so friendly & shares the same travel passion as SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ», hence lots of common interest to chit chat πŸ—£πŸ‘€ about during their approximately 30mins journey πŸš™ to Samut Sakhon province, also known by the locals as “Maha Chai” πŸ˜€

Both happily πŸ˜ƒ exchanged lots of respective travel stories, always a nice πŸ‘πŸ» meet & catch up with a travel lover during travel journeys 😁

As you have reading πŸ“– her earlier blogging πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ“ here, she πŸ‘©πŸ» has visited plenty of mangrove parks 🌳🌳 in her home country ~ Malaysia πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ

However, this is SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ»‘s 1️⃣st visit to a Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡‘s natural coastal mangrove forest 🌳🌳,Β a home to a wide variety of birds πŸ¦…πŸ¦ & mudskippers 🐟🐟 & along the Gulf of Thailand πŸŒŠπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡

Oppsss…The mudskippers 🐟🐟 here are fat & huge, it was high tides 🌊 during her visit, so not able ❌ to note the colourful Hermit crabs πŸšπŸ¦€crawling on the muddy field 😌☺️

Not to missed a visit to its mini museum / perhaps more to a conservation project centre πŸ’šπŸ’š with a collection of whale πŸ‹πŸ³ skeletons, details about some small animals lived in this forest 🌳🌳 before as well asΒ some its on-going marine conservation initiatives πŸŒŠπŸ’šπŸ’š here i.e. mangrove trees planting 🌳🌳, a bamboo πŸŽπŸŽ‹ border project to avoid further water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ & soil erosion to this forest 🌳🌳 etc.

These eco πŸ’šπŸ’š sustainable initiatives aim to buidling the bamboo borders πŸŽπŸŽ‹ within the mangrove forest 🌳🌳 were observed by SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» during her visit to protect the mangroves 🌳 being sapling from the sea waves 🌊 ‘ destruction, then soil erosion πŸ˜§πŸ˜²πŸ™ƒ

Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈΒ also into eco tourism πŸ’š & a green person as SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ»,Β so they have more conversational topics πŸ—£πŸ‘€ Ha…Ha…it’s rare to meet a new friend πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ with similar travel & conservation passionate πŸ˜‰

She πŸ‘©πŸ» has shared a recent sad πŸ˜” news πŸ—žπŸ“° of the high ⬆️ potential of the de-gazette ❌ of Pulau Kukup Johor National Park 🌴 to Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ during this day tour, you may check out this said dissappointingΒ πŸ˜”Β online newsΒ πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ—žπŸ“°Β via 🌐https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2018/12/05/why-did-johor-quietly-degazette-pulau-kukup-national-park-asks-lawyers/

SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» has wrote πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ“ about this Pulau Kukup Johor National Park 🌴 via link 🌐 https://siennylovesdrawing.wordpress.com/2018/02/18/traveloguemalaysia-pulau-kukup-tanjung-piai/

Guess what❓⁉️

Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈnot just a great πŸ‘πŸ» local expert in sharing her knowledge about this village, she is also a great photographer πŸ“Έ

Special thank you πŸ™πŸ» for theΒ beautiful 😍 photos πŸ“Έ of SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» during this mangrove forest 🌳🌳 walkπŸšΆπŸ»β€β™€οΈya πŸ€—

Next, Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈΒ also brought her to a local cafe πŸ½β˜•οΈΒ (Hmm…In Thai name which SiennyLovesDrawing is unable to share the name, refer photo below for the cafe details) by her friend named Joy πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ & her adorable shy daughter named Minnie πŸ‘§πŸ» It was a pleasure to meet them & had a quick chit chat about Joy πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ’s recent visit to her orchard plantation 🌱🌿 in Central of Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ , she plants 🌱🌿 for macadomia nuts πŸ₯œ , coffee trees β˜•οΈπŸŒ³, pineapples 🍍 etc. Love πŸ’— all the photos πŸ“ΈπŸ“± shared by Joy πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ, you will definitely note her passion in plantations πŸ’—πŸŒ±πŸŒΏ

IMG_0237.jpg

This cafe πŸ½β˜•οΈ is locatedπŸ“next to a river πŸ’¦πŸ’§, it’s really relaxing 😌 to dine 🍽 here to enjoy πŸ˜‹πŸ€€ the canal view. She πŸ‘©πŸ» had a Thai tea ice stick β˜•οΈπŸ¦as well as try stir fried fresh vegetables πŸ₯— planted by Joy πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ with sardines 🐟, yummy delicious πŸ˜‹πŸ€€β€ΌοΈ

IMG_0238.jpg

She πŸ‘©πŸ» has observed during the car πŸš™ journey towards the salt farm that some of the farmers πŸ‘¬πŸ‘¬πŸ‘¬ here busy hand picking cockles 🐚 in the farms πŸ˜„

Yeah‼️ Next, she πŸ‘©πŸ» has proceeded to visit the salt farm πŸ˜ƒ

Yes βœ…, the highlight ✨of this tour & she πŸ‘©πŸ» has been long awaited for. Hmm….Why❓⁉️

This is because she πŸ‘©πŸ» wanted to visit salt farm in Kampot village, Cambodia πŸ‡°πŸ‡ during her Phnom Penh trip in Nov. However, due to a last mins plan, no ❌ hotel available 🏒 as it was the annual water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ festival celebration πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ , so SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» was forced to cancel ❌ the Kampot visit plan, hence no ❌ chance to have her 1️⃣st visit to a salt farm πŸ˜ŒπŸ˜”

Everything happens for a reason, then this Take Me Tour booking πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»πŸ›’βœ… has now fulfilled πŸ†’πŸ†— her wish to visit a salt farm, so happy πŸ˜ƒβ€ΌοΈ

Salt farming is seasonal & visiting during the dry season between January to April would capture the best view πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜

Sea water πŸ’¦πŸ’§ is 1️⃣st being pumping into the farms.Β  Then, the sea water πŸ’¦πŸ’§will be evaporated over a period of time, the layers of salt will be manually collected by the salt farmers πŸ‘«πŸ‘πŸ‘¬

She πŸ‘©πŸ» has met with the salt farmers πŸ‘¬πŸ‘πŸ‘«’ family, learnt & discovered how the salt formed & also enjoy a home cooked lunch 🍽🍴with the top πŸ‘†πŸ»notch salt & fresh seafood πŸ¦€πŸ¦πŸŸ served from the salt farm to table πŸ˜‹πŸ€€

Do click in☝🏻to SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ»’s IG photos album πŸ“Έ of her salt farm visit & delicious πŸ˜‹πŸ€€ home cooked seafood dining ya πŸ½πŸ΄πŸ¦€πŸ¦πŸŸ

Curious πŸ€” about the home-cooked dishes that she πŸ‘©πŸ» has enjoyed πŸ˜‹πŸ€€β“β‰οΈ

Salt-Baked Seafood ~ Flower crab πŸ¦€ , prawns 🦐 & sea bass 🐟

What’s the best πŸ‘πŸ»way to enjoy fresh seafoodsπŸ¦€πŸ¦πŸŸβ“β‰οΈ

Of course not ❌ to fried them, but to steamed them β™¨οΈπŸ’¦πŸ’§

IMG_0279.JPG

Hmm…Not just that, SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» has just learnt a new πŸ†• home cooked style i.e. to salt-baked the fresh seafoods πŸ¦€πŸ¦πŸŸ

Her 1️⃣st salt-baked dining experience πŸ½πŸ˜‹πŸ€€ & she πŸ‘©πŸ» loves πŸ’— so much as she gets to taste the original sweetness of the seafoods πŸ‘πŸ»

She πŸ‘©πŸ» loves πŸ’— this dish the most as she loves to enjoy fresh seafoods πŸ¦€πŸ¦πŸŸ

Ohh ya…No need ❌ to worry as this salt-baked style will not make the seafoods taste too salty to dine ya πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜‹πŸ€€

img_0300 img_0302

Fresh & tasty delicious πŸ˜‹πŸ€€ , she has missed this dish the most from this day tourβ€ΌοΈπŸ˜€

You may opt to enjoy the seafoods either by dipping with the home made spicy 🌢 sauce or not

Seepweed Leaf Salad πŸ₯— with Sauteed Dried Shrimps 🦐

This seepweed aka suaeda plants 🌿 only grow next to a salt farm, wow πŸ˜²β€ΌοΈ

Another 1️⃣st tasting πŸ˜‹πŸ€€ experience of this green vegetable 🌿πŸ₯—, actually not just green, it’s also in purple colour πŸ’œ

IMG_0289.jpg

The darker the purple πŸ’œ of the seepweed 🌿, it signifies the higher ⬆️ of the salt concentrate as observed from her salt farm visit πŸ˜‰

IMG_0387.jpg

Guess what❓⁉️

A special local Thai πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ way to enjoy this salad πŸ₯— dish, do click in☝🏻for a short clipΒ πŸ“ΉπŸŽ₯Β captured from Khun Hansa πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ’s demo during the lunch🍽🍴

The coconut 🌴πŸ₯₯ milk πŸ₯› & lime juice πŸ‹ blends well πŸ‘πŸ» with the seepweed🌿πŸ₯—, then the crispy crunchy dried shrimp 🦐 add the boost ⬆️ to its overall taste in a spoonful πŸ₯„ So satisfied to enjoy this salad πŸ₯—πŸ€€πŸ˜‹

Seepweed 🌿 Leaf Curry with Oysters πŸ›πŸš

Very appetitive 🀀 curry fragrance to enjoy, especially the fresh oysters 🐚 taste so sweet in this curryπŸ›

IMG_0347.jpg

During her visit, no small pyramids πŸ”Ό of salt being piled up as it was in between dry β˜€οΈ & raining β˜”οΈπŸŒ§ season, so the salt harvesting not as great this season

SiennyLovesDrawing πŸ‘©πŸ» also personally observed how the locals handpicked πŸ–πŸ» & performed the salt grading πŸ”’ too. Definitely great πŸ‘πŸ» eye sight πŸ‘€πŸ‘πŸ‘ is required for this manual process βœ…

img_0323img_0424

She πŸ‘©πŸ» also visited a traditional salt storage & learning how the salt farm is being formed & then harvested from the salt farmers/ local communities πŸ‘¬πŸ‘πŸ‘«

Before you left the salt farm & headed back to Bangkok city πŸŒ†πŸ™, you may shopping πŸ›’πŸ› for some salt products e.g. sea salt, soap etc. which produced by the locals as souvenirs 🎁 for friends & family members πŸ‘πŸ‘¬πŸ‘«
