Hmm…Still recalling some of her childhood ๐ง๐ป’s favourite ๐๐คฉ comics were Doraemon ๐, Old Master Q ๐๐ปโโ๏ธetc.
She ๐ฉ๐ป has recently participated a workshop ๐ฃ๐ฅ๐ค๐ฅ hosted by MPH publishing๐, it was all about comic art ๐จ๐ for beginners, as well as about comic art passion by Andrea Tan ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
This workshop ๐ฃ๐ฅ๐ค๐ฅ is specially designed for adults ๐ฉ๐ป๐จ๐ป๐ง๐ป๐ต๐ป๐ด๐ป, aims for those who claimed that โI canโt draw ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐จ๐โ. After attendance, the participants ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ will gain basic drawing skills & to tell a story with art ๐จ๐ซ via a fun medium i.e. handrawn comics by inking it ๐๐๐๐คฉ

Andrea ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ also a self taught artist ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐จ & writer โ๐ป, really got inspired by her art passion too โ๐ป๐๐ป

1) Why make comicsโโ๏ธ
โข Welcome ๐๐ป ๐ค with brief self-intro by the instructor, Andrea Tan ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
โข Brief sharing about sequential art ๐จ๐ with some examples
2) How to make comicsโโ๏ธ
โข Workshop materials ๐โ๐ปusage briefing
โข Planning stages: Thinking in visuals & words ~ How to write โ๐ป the script & sketch โ๏ธthe draft visualisation on a piece of paper ๐
โข Explanation about the 3๏ธโฃ-Act Story Structure,
(i) Beginning (Panel 1๏ธโฃ) ~ Setting the scene: Who, Where, When, What
(ii) Middle (Panels 2๏ธโฃ & 3๏ธโฃ) ~ What’s the goal ๐ฅ
to achieve etc.
(iii) End (Panel 4๏ธโฃ) โ The moral of the story/ resolution etc.
โข Tips on sketching with pencil โ๏ธ 1๏ธโฃst, then inking ๐
โข How to draw “You” (Yesโ , own self in your artwork) as the character of your own comic using simple shapes โซ๏ธโฌ๏ธ
3) Quick demo by instructor ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ ~ Drawing panels, sketching, inking etc.

Comic Art workshop sounds so much fun. I guess not only adults but kids will also love doing that. It can be a nice way to use our free time.

I tried my hand at drawing comics and it was woefully unguided. I need a class like this to better my drawing skills!

Oh how inspiring! I had a cartoon drawing phase, also some anime. Wasn’t really good at it, but it was really a nice hobby. Would definitely go to these kind of workshops!

I always enjoy reading comic arts in magazines and papers.But,never paid attention on the artists behind these art.This sounds like a great workshop.And it is interesting to read about how such arts are drawn!

I didn’t know these types of workshops exist. I dont have any talent when it comes to drawing and this one is a great avenue for someone like me who wants to learn the craft. hope we have these types pf workshops as well here in Cebu. ๐
