Why this fastingโ“โ‰๏ธ

Hmm…All unplanned, it just happened with a sudden thoughtโ€ผ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜†

She was having a lunch ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿดcatch up ๐Ÿ—ฃ๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ‘ค๐Ÿ‘ฅ recently with some of her old friends๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ญ, then were chit chatting ๐Ÿ—ฃ๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ‘ฅ about the Ramadhan ๐Ÿ’š month ๐Ÿ˜€

Suddenly she popped a question โ“”Anyone of you have tried fasting in any waysโ“โ‰๏ธ”

1๏ธโƒฃ of her friend ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ said “Yes โœ… , she has tried & it’s doable๐Ÿ™‚”

Another of her friend ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ said “I did โœ… a juice๐Ÿฅค๐Ÿนdetox fasting before”

Quite a fun & juicy conversation ๐Ÿ—ฃ๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ‘ฅ around the fasting topic that afternoon ๐Ÿ”† (all just because of her questionโ“asked๐Ÿ˜‰)

Guess whatโ“โ‰๏ธ

At the end of the lunch๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿด, all agreed for a 2๏ธโƒฃ-day fasting on 28 May & 31 May to experiencing it, particularly for those 1๏ธโƒฃst timer like SiennyLovesDrawing ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป

Then, all will meet up for a Ramadhan ๐Ÿ’š buffet dinner ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿดto break fast together gather ๐Ÿ˜‹๐ŸคคYeahโ€ผ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Just because we need a convenience & LRT ๐Ÿš‡ accessible hotel ๐Ÿข for a great feast ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ˜‹๐ŸคคHa…Ha…๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜†

Hmm…Missed โŒ the flash deal ๐Ÿ’ฑ though…๐Ÿ˜Œ

There were 3๏ธโƒฃ fasting options for choice as discussed & agreed โœ… from the lunch ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿด

Option 1๏ธโƒฃ: Water ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ง fasting/ water ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ง cleanse ~ Go without โŒ food๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿด, but โœ…๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’งplain water is permissible. In general, tea ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿต & black coffee โ˜•๏ธ may be consumed

Option 2๏ธโƒฃ: Half day fasting (at least 4๏ธโƒฃ hours) ~ Go without food โŒ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿด& plain water โŒ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ง

Option 3๏ธโƒฃ: Full fast โŒ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ง(with an option to sip some water โœ…๐Ÿ’ฆ if really can’t go on)

So, what’s fastingโ“โ‰๏ธ

In layman explanation, it means to abstain from food & water โŒ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ง for a specific time frame๐Ÿ•• In the past, more for spiritual religious fasting especially annual Ramadhan ๐Ÿ’š month for Muslims ๐Ÿ•Œ

However, as time passed, fasting is now evolving as aย change of diet ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿดpattern for many health conscious practitioners โ˜บ๏ธ

How to fastโ“โ‰๏ธ

1๏ธโƒฃst, select a type of fast you would like to experience
2๏ธโƒฃnd, set some goals to achieve
3๏ธโƒฃrd, plan your food menu
Lastly, observe & understand your body during the fasting

– ย Fasting as an excellent ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป tool for weight loss
– Fasting promotes the secretion of human growth hormone (HGH)
– Fasting is great for normalizing insulin sensitivity
– Fasting may slow down the aging process

She was having some questions โ“โ“/ concerns during her 1๏ธโƒฃst fasting
– How to manage bad breath (if any)โ“โ‰๏ธ
– How about those suffering gastric problemโ“โ‰๏ธ
– What’s the best option for breakfast/ meal ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿดbefore fastingโ“โ‰๏ธ
– Smoking ๐Ÿšฌallowedโœ…โ“โ‰๏ธ

SiennyLovesDrawing ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป has went for Option 1๏ธโƒฃ for her 2๏ธโƒฃ-day 1๏ธโƒฃst fasting experience. Initially, she wanted to try the Option 3๏ธโƒฃ i.e. full fastโŒ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿดwith sips of water ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’งHowever, from her observation, her body needs water ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’งespecially her art ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ teaching ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ career required lots of mouth ๐Ÿ‘„ & throat exercise daily ๐Ÿ—ฃ๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Hence, she didn’t force her body & then changed to Option 1๏ธโƒฃ i.e. water ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’งfasting โœ…

Day1๏ธโƒฃ she didn’t plan her food ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿดmenu well enough. She was just having 4๏ธโƒฃ slices of whole gains bread ๐Ÿž & a glass of oat with Anlene powdered milk ๐Ÿฅ› Yeahโ€ผ๏ธ That’s all as her Sahur equivalent meal ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿคช

Her friend asked “So, your dinner Day 1๏ธโƒฃ extremely delicious๐Ÿ˜‹โ“โ‰๏ธ”

She doesn’t feel that way, it was just a mixed rice ๐Ÿ› packed by her parents ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿป & frankly just a normal meal with normal taste as usual ๐Ÿ˜Š

She missed most during her fasting ~ her morning๐Ÿ”…coffee โ˜•๏ธ

Day 2๏ธโƒฃ much easy going โœ… for her, perhaps she has adjusting well from Day 1๏ธโƒฃ She planned a better breakfast ๐Ÿฝโ˜•๏ธ too. She was having her favourite โค๏ธ breakfast choice i.e. cream crackers with chocolate ๐Ÿซ jam & a glass of oat with Anlene powdered milk ๐Ÿฅ› Honestly, the crackers served much better as bread ๐Ÿž (compared to Day 1๏ธโƒฃ) to keep her full though โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Generally, she was fine during the fasting, except Day 1๏ธโƒฃ she observed her body can’t go โŒwithout water ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’งconstantly every 2๏ธโƒฃ hours. It means she does drink lots of water ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’งdaily ya

Not โŒ really exhausted/ tired ๐Ÿ˜“๐Ÿ˜‘ throughout/ even when the fasting ends in the evening ๐Ÿ™

Hmm…She found herself tough in certain timing aka slight craving for foods ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿดdue to her meals & snacking breaks at 10am, 12.30pm, 3pm, 7.30pm etc.๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

Yeahโ€ผ๏ธ A nice 2๏ธโƒฃ-day fasting experience completed. Her friends & herself ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ญreally enjoyed the Jom Makan ๐Ÿ’š Kenduri-Kendara feast ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿดat Vasco’s in Hilton KL๐Ÿข The wide varieties of local dishes from almost all states in West Malaysia ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ are served. A great ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป choice madeโœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  2. I’ve never done a full day fast or anything like that, but my husband and I do intermittent fasting from 6pm to 10am on a daily basis. It has so many great health benefits to it! I’d love to try doing it for a more extended period of time at some point. And this food looks AMAZING as well! Sounds delicious!
