Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No.5 (TT5)

If you have read Malaysia’s 🇲🇾 history, you will definitely know that Malaysia 🇲🇾 is famous with its tin mining ⛏ in the early years

Guess what❓⁉️

IMG_2241.jpg

TT5 is the last tin dredge in Malaysia 🇲🇾 & 1️⃣ of the present mining ⛏ initiative by Menteri Besar Incorporated since 1951 &reactivated in 2012 with intention to continue its restoration as a heritage museum with café & etc.👍🏻

It was built in England 🇬🇧 , 1938 by F.W. Payne & Son i.e. a major dredge engineering company back then for the Southern Malayan Tin Dredging Ltd., a company formed in 1926 which operated 6️⃣ dredges in total in Batu Gajah & Tanjung Tualang, Perak 🙂

IMG_20171218_130750

TT5 was used for 4️⃣4️⃣ years until 1982 when the Malaysian tin industries declined due to the falling ⬇️ world’s 🌍 tin price💱, exhausted tin deposits & high ⬆️ operating cost. In 2012, the facility was closed due to water 💦💧leakage. Starting Jan 2015 with its undergoing RM8.5 million renovation for 2️⃣ years
