Hokkaido Ramen

Yeah! Now Malaysians don’t really need to travel to Hokkaido, Japan 🇯🇵 to enjoy a bowl of the famous authentic slurpable ramen 🍜!

Ramen 🍜 is known worldwide 🌎 as the “Japanese Soul Food”. In each part within Japan 🇯🇵, there are unique styles of ramen being specifically served.

Hokkaido is one of the areas where almost all the Japanese there would have a deep affinity for ramen 🍜 . Moreover, ramen has been listed as Hokkaido Heritage where the Japanese of Hokkaido would like to preserve & inheritance ramen to their future generations.

SiennyLovesDrawing & her foodie friends went to Menya Miyabi 麺や雅 (non halal) recently for a ramen 🍜 gathering 😃

Many of Menya Miyabi customers are Japanese expatriates now staying in Malaysia, hence in order to preserve the authentic taste of Hokaido broth/ soup recipe, they have not localised the broth taste to suit Malaysians’ taste bud. Instead, if you prefer a mild/ lighter broth taste, do feel free to request for extra soup (it’s free of charge 😉) from their friendly waiters/ waitress.

The broth/ soup base required 7 hours of slow boiling to ensure the thickness & authentic Hokkaido taste!

It’s common for Japanese to slurping loudly of their ramen served. This is not considered as impolite dining, however an important evidence that they have enjoyed the ramen, as well as an indirect compliment to the chef.

If a spoon is provided to you, then you may use it to drink the soup/ broth. Otherwise, you may lift up the bowl to your mouth & drink the broth/ soup directly from it.

It is advisable to finish your ramen while it is served hot.

Yaki-Miso Ramen (fried soybean paste flavour) 🍜

This is the signature & well known Hokkaido brand ramen according to the founder, Takana San. He has been in his Hokkaido ramen career since more than 15 years with an opportunity of learning from his Master.

Takana San explained because lots of Japanese 🇯🇵 expatriates/ Japanese tourists/ Japanese investors in Malaysia 🇲🇾 comparatively with other Asia countries. So, he would like to provide the Japanese in Malaysia with an authentic home taste. Moreover, he feels to be home with lots of Japanese who are staying here too ☺️

To ensure the quality of Hokkaido ramen, Takana San personally will inspect & quality control check on the broth/ soup base on a frequent basis. Also he sends his chef, kitchen crews etc. to be trained at Hokkaido.

Tonkotsu Ramen (pork broth flavour) 🍜

SiennyLovesDrawing recommends the Tonkotsu ramen, as it is one of the signature of Menya Miyabi, also the broth is thick & creamy.

Kara Miso Ramen (hot & spicy miso flavour) 🍜

Don’t worry, it’s not very spicy. However, if you prefer more spicy, you may add on the chili oil/ spicies available at each dine in table.

There is a large size ramen available for all flavours with just an additional charge of RM4. Weekdays 2pm to 5.30pm will be free 🙂

Yaki Ramen (Tasty fried flavour) 🍜

Hmm…SiennyLovesDrawing was suprised that there are non-soupy ramen served too. Tasty as the name suggests 😆

Hokkaido Chiled Ramen Salad 🍜

1st time for SiennyLovesDrawing to taste a chilled cum cold served ramen!

And it was awesome! 👍🏻

It tastes like a salad with its special Hokkaido sesame sauce, very appetizing too 😋

Definitely will be back for it again & again, especially a cooling lunch for a hot sunny day 😃
